Re: Recap of CoSIDA Board of Directors and divisional leadership updates and initiatives for the month of January
We know that everyone is entering one of the more hectic periods of the year in our profession, but we hope you will take a few moments to review this newsletter from CoSIDA's leadership. Many things took place within the organization during January, and below you will find a review of CoSIDA's participation at the annual NCAA Convention as well as the NACDA Mid-Year Affiliates meeting. |
Continuing Education
· There were three opportunities in January for CoSIDA members to participate in continuing education sessions and the next one is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 9. Two were livestreamed from the NCAA Convention on Jan. 12: "Social Media: Building and Engaging an Online Community" and "Using Technology to Work Smarter on NCAA DIII Campuses." The third was a call/webcast on Jan. 26 entitled "New Media Tips and Answers from the Collegiate Athletics Internet/ Digital Association." On Feb. 9, the continuing ed programming will feature student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III and is entitled "SAAC Leaders, The Student-Athletes and You." National Organization Initiatives

CoSIDA Contests, Scholarship/Grant Program Nominations
Currently, CoSIDA is accepting nominations for the CoSIDA Scholarships and Grant program (deadlines in April/May). There also are two ongoing contests - the annual Publications Contest (varying deadlines) and the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest (deadline of Feb. 24, 2012).

Capital One Academic All-America® Program
· In the new four-division selection process this year (with NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division [NAIA, Canada and Two-Year] categories), the men's and women's basketball Academic All-District voting concluded on January 31. Basketball Academic All-District teams will be announced on Feb. 2 and the basketball Academic All-America® Teams will be announced Feb. 20-23.
We remind everyone that you must be a 2011-12 member of CoSIDA to nominate your deserving student-athletes and vote in the program.
· REMEMBER- Always refer to our Academic All-America® program and its respective Academic All-District teams, Academic All-America® teams and Academic All-America® Hall of Fame, with our sponsor Capital One placed prior to all "Academic All-America" mentions. Strategic Branding/Marketing & Communications

CoSIDA membership for 2012-13
· Not a member and want to join CoSIDA, or do you wish to renew a membership(s) for 2012-13? As of February 1, the 2012-13 CoSIDA membership dues are open. See our "CoSIDA Membership Benefits/Purchase a Membership" webpage HERE. Membership for 2011-12 is closed, but those who renew/join after Feb. 1 will have membership for the rest of this academic year - and that membership will extend through Sept. 15, 2013. If you have purchased a 2011-12 membership, that membership is valid through September 15, 2012 - the next seven-plus months. Questions?
