2012 Biodynamic Conference
In 2012, as never before, the earth as a living being is calling out to us for recognition, for healing, for sacred and sustainable ways of tending her soil, plants, animals, and landscapes...
Join us November 14-18, 2012, at the beautiful Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison, WI, for an extraordinary event - the 2012 North American Biodynamic Conference. This biennial conference will bring together hundreds of farmers, gardeners, educators, activists, and interested newcomers for five days of inspiring keynotes, informative workshops, networking, exhibits, film screenings, art, and organic and biodynamic foods.
This year's theme, Sacred Agriculture, will focus on how we can build a sacred relationship to the earth through farming, gardening, and transformational work in our communities.
Featuring: keynote speakers Dennis Klocek and Charles Eisenstein, a panel of leading biodynamic farmers, 40+ workshops, and much, much more.

Biodynamic Research Reminder:
Call for Pre-Proposals and Collaborators
Research Coordinator Sarah Weber reports that there's been a great response so far to our Call for Pre-Proposals and Collaborators. We want to make sure we get the word out as widely as possible. Please forward this on to anyone you think might be interested.
The Biodynamic Association is seeking creative, relevant and innovative research projects that will advance the understanding and practice of biodynamics that we can pitch to various funders who are interested in biodynamics.
For more information, please see our announcement of the Call, which is part of our Biodynamic Research Development Program. |

If you haven't yet visited, or haven't been back in a while, we think you'll enjoy checking out these new listings. Our thanks to all who joined the Directory during its first month!
Our Next Drawing: If you haven't yet submitted a listing, we invite you to do so today. All listings submitted before August 15 will be eligible for a limited edition tote bag and bandana made from cotton grown in Egypt by the SEKEM initiative. Our thanks to Quantum Culture, a new U.S. business bringing anthroposophically inspired, contemporary products, for donating this prize.

Burying the Nettles:
Beginning Biodynamics at Geer Crest Farm
By Christopher Chemsak: Five days prior to the summer solstice at Geer Crest Farm in Oregon, on a slope known by the farm family as "Nettle Hill," about half of the population of the infamous stinging nettle plants has bland beginnings of flowers. The other half seems more reluctant to transition from their youthful spring form as, one-by-one, their lower leaves begin to fade to a yellowy pale-brown. Read more... |
