Queen of the Sun Opens on Earth Day
Starting on Earth Day, April 22, more people nationwide will have the opportunity to watch Queen of the Sun, the inspiring new film on the global bee crisis by Taggart Siegel, the director of The Real Dirt on Farmer John. The film is opening in over 50 theaters over the next few months and offers a wonderful opportunity to hear beekeepers voice their passion for these amazing creatures. Featuring Gunther Hauk of Spikenard Farm Honeybee Sanctuary and other biodynamic and organic beekeepers and advocates, the film points to Rudolf Steiner's predictions nearly 80 years ago about the threats faced by the bees. Find out more information and watch the trailer at the film's website, and read the review on the Biodynamics Blog.

New Lawsuit Challenges Monsanto's GMO Patents
A few weeks ago, the Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) filed a lawsuit on behalf of organic and biodynamic farmers, seed businesses, and non-profit organizations to preemptively prohibit Monsanto from suing farmers and seed growers who are contaminated by Roundup Ready seed. We deeply support this effort and are pleased that a number of our farmer members signed on as plaintiffs. We consider the genetic engineering of plants to be one the most heinous and tragic misuses of human intelligence on the planet and the ruthless practices of Monsanto in advancing this field of technology to be unconscionable. For these reasons, we will be actively and zealously supporting our farmer members and brother and sister organizations who have chosen to participate in it as plaintiffs.

In Memory of Dick Zinniker
We wanted to let as many of you know as possible that Dick Zinniker died Sunday afternoon, April 3rd, around 3 p.m. from complications resulting from a heart condition. He was the owner of the oldest biodynamic farm in the US, the Zinniker Farm in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, which has been a beacon for biodynamics here for nearly 70 years.
Dick was a hard-working, warm-hearted individual with a deep love of nature and farming. His gentle way will be greatly missed.
