City Hall Front Door Sound financial management of tax payer resources  continues to be a high priority for the city council. Despite a sluggish national economy, the city of Spring Park is in excellent financial condition. The city council recently set our preliminary 2011 tax levy at $980,000. This is the same amount that we levied in 2009, 2010 and now preliminarily in 2011. Holding our taxes flat for three consecutive years is a significant feat the entire city council is proud of.
We have a lot happening in Spring Park and the city is always looking for ways to improve our communication with our residents and businesses.  If you have access to e-mail I would encourage you to sign up to be on our new e-NEWS distribution list.  There is a link to sign up on the home page of our city website www.ci.spring-park.mn.us.  Quarterly newsletters and periodic e-blasts of city news will be sent directly to your e-mail inbox.  You can also find us on Facebook, www.facebook.com/SpringPark.   We have a lot to be proud of in Spring Park and we want to keep you informed.

Gun Safety The Orono Police Department will provide two free firearm safety kits to local residents through a partnership with Project ChildSafe, the nationwide firearms safety education program.  The safety kits, which include a gun lock, can be picked up at the Orono Police Department during normal business hours.

We encourage residents to pick up a Project ChildSafe safety kit so that they can securely store their firearm.  Each kit contains a safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock.  The locks fit on most types of handguns, rifles and shotguns.  The goal is to prevent a child or any other unauthorized person from accessing a firearm in your home.
