From Your Mayor Sound financial management of tax payer resources continues to be a high priority for the city council. Despite a sluggish national economy, the city of Spring Park is in excellent financial condition. The city council recently set our preliminary 2011 tax levy at $980,000. This is the same amount that we levied in 2009, 2010 and now preliminarily in 2011. Holding our taxes flat for three consecutive years is a significant feat the entire city council is proud of. We have a lot happening in Spring Park and the city is always looking for ways to improve our communication with our residents and businesses. If you have access to e-mail I would encourage you to sign up to be on our new e-NEWS distribution list. There is a link to sign up on the home page of our city website www.ci.spring-park.mn.us. Quarterly newsletters and periodic e-blasts of city news will be sent directly to your e-mail inbox. You can also find us on Facebook, www.facebook.com/SpringPark. We have a lot to be proud of in Spring Park and we want to keep you informed.
Your Mayor~
Sarah Reinhardt

From the Police Department The Orono Police Department will provide two free firearm safety kits to local residents through a partnership with Project ChildSafe, the nationwide firearms safety education program. The safety kits, which include a gun lock, can be picked up at the Orono Police Department during normal business hours. We encourage residents to pick up a Project ChildSafe safety kit so that they can securely store their firearm. Each kit contains a safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock. The locks fit on most types of handguns, rifles and shotguns. The goal is to prevent a child or any other unauthorized person from accessing a firearm in your home. Read More
