Greetings!
I can't believe I'm deep into planning June shows! April and May are booked full of interesting shows by the most talented performers... and I anticipate a strong summer schedule, as well.
Thursday, we are presenting an Earth Day Special Reading, presented by six Streetlight writers, "who each have work related to our planet and it's health." The poets are: Anne Bromley, Polly Lazaron, Judy Longley, Cara Marinucci, Jaime Reaser and Lisa Ryan. Come hear these women who speak of their close relationship to nature and our environment.
Friday night we plunge back into music with our local stars: The Scuffletown Trio. These three guys are one of the shows that always offer entertaining concerts of their upbeat and mostly comedic view of the world. Come early, Scuffletown usually sells out. More info is on their Facebook page.
Saturday evening Stephanie Nakasian and Hod O'Brien offer their exquisite jazz stylings joined by daughter Veronica Swift and their special guest, pianist Matt Wigler. Steph and Hod are popular performers here who offer imaginative shows with new and old standards for any taste. I personally think they represent the finest jazz available anywhere; we are fortunate that they call Charlottesville home. Their guest Matt Wigler is easy to find on the web: Strathmore Artist in Residence, Kennedy Center performer, this young singer/pianist has earned raves from around the country. Read these and see video at: http://www.mattwigler.com
And check the Future Calendar (to the left) for upcoming shows and national tours. Come join us soon for a performance at Stage Cafe: The Listener's Venue.
