Welcome New  Client
NFP Partners is pleased to welcome La Clinica Tepeyac as a new client. The organization, located in northwest Denver, provides culturally competent health care and preventive health services for medically underserved and uninsured families.
After experiencing rapid growth over the past few years, the organization found its existing entry-level accounting and fundraising software inadequate to handle the present job. As a result, it was successful in securing grant to purchase Sage MIP Fund Accounting and Fund Raising 50, both integrated and permanent solutions.

A Few of My Favorite Things
Nonprofit Accounting Resources
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight a few helpful nonprofit resources that I've come across over the years:

Not-for-Profit Accounting Help (Nancy Church, CPA) - Nancy, who is devoted to the nonprofit sector, writes a terrific newsletter, along with a practical ground-level guide to nonprofit accounting, which can be purchased and downloaded for a fair price. Recent newsletter articles include:  "Managing Expectations: Accounting and Development," "It Was a Crime of Opportunity!" and "Negative Unrestricted Net Assets." The newsletter subscription is free.

My Financial Management Plan (Nonprofit Risk Management Center) - This resource focuses on nonprofit risk management. I particularly like the "My Financial Management Plan" component, which provides a dedicated website for documenting your nonprofit's governance rules and policies, internal controls, and financial policies and procedures. The resource offers modifiable templates, or you can create and upload your own. There is an initial reasonable subscription cost that is well worth it, considering the amount of work it saves you. NFP Partners provides "My Financial Plan" in our package of services to our accounting services clients.

Not-for-Profit-Accounting is a blog maintained by Alan Strand, an accountant with years of practical experience as a nonprofit CFO and an accounting services provider. He has a penchant for keeping abreast of nonprofit accounting developments, so you will invariably run across valuable information if you visit his site on a regular basis.

Charities Review Council is a Minnesota-based nonprofit, providing free information to other nonprofits, including on accountability standards, along with sample documents covering governance, public disclosure, financial activities, and fund raising. This organization really seems to have its act together...something about those Minnesota folks.

I intend to keep our favorites list updated on the website, and will blog or tweet new resources as we come across them.
