Welcome!
The 2011-2012 NYRS academic year is going to be an exciting one. We have already started and we are sure you will find the program is both interesting and stimulating.
As in the previous year, our 2011 Annual Meeting was held in October at the Princeton Club. It offered 40 hours of CME credits overall; 21 credits per individual participant, with concurrent sessions, and included an interactive session on "Radiology in the Era of Healthcare Reform" and the "Best of ASTRO" in Radiation Oncology. The meeting was well attended, and a great success. As you start to plan your 2012 calendar, make sure you hold the dates of October 3rd-5th so that you can join us for the 2012 Annual Meeting!
Our 6 monthly educational meetings for both Diagnostic Radiology (DR) and Radiation Oncology (RO) will kick off on November 14th and again take place on Mondays at the MSKCC Rockefeller Auditorium. In response to resident feedback, the format of the Monday evening DR session has been shortened. We will continue to conduct the resident quiz followed by two short presentations (instead of 3) and a longer "visiting professor" lecture. This year's topics will include MSK, MR, IR Pediatrics, and New Techniques in Ultrasound. In April, as a special event I will host a Jeopardy session, across all categories, with a designated category manager for each category. . .any willing contributors/participants, please contact me!
Our Resident Liaison Committee includes DR and RO representatives to the Executive Committee and they are welcome additions. The administrative support provided by Executive Director, Richard Fleury, and his assistant, Mrs. Susan Sassower is critical to our operation. I commend them for their effort, and thank our past leadership for the "on the job coaching" I have received. The membership should be proud of the ongoing commitment of your past presidents!
Our plan is to make the New York Roentgen Society work for YOU. Please contact us with your ideas and suggestions. I look forward to an informative and productive year!
