Meet Ups, Beginner Classes, and More!
School is back in session and we have expanded our children's curriculum to provide even more opportunities for young ones to learn and improve their skills!
Friday Afternoon Kids' Meetup - New Format
Beginning this week, we are adding a dedicated teacher, Rosie Zagami, to the Friday afternoon Kids' Meetups (4:00-5:30 pm). Besides being a long time customer of La Casita, Rosie has over 10 years of public school experience teaching fourth and fifth graders. She is excited to share her love of knitting with children by helping them to make a variety of projects that are fun, colorful and useful.
Each week, students will learn how to make the various projects outlined on the schedule below. (Note: some projects are competed over multiple weeks.) The meetup fee is $25.00 for an individual class or $100.00 for a package of five classes. The price includes all materials plus snacks! Please note that the meet ups are geared toward children with some experience, so students should already know how to knit and purl. Class size is limited to 8 students so advance registration is recommended.
Class schedule is as follows:
10/21: Knit Headband (sample photographed below)
10/28: Mini Purse (sample photographed below)
11/4: Knit for Peace project (Knit squares seamed together to form a blanket for a charitable organization)
11/11 & 11/18: Scarf with hand pockets (2 sessions)
11/25: Thanksgiving Break (No instructor on hand. Students may come in for review, help or simply to meet up with one another. Class price will be reduced for this session)
12/9: Holiday Ornaments
* There will be no instructor on hand for the 12/16, 12/23 and 12/30 sessions. Classes will resume Jan 6, 2012. Students may come in for review, help or simply meet up with one another. Class price will be reduced for these sessions)
1/6: Knit Leg Warmers
1/13: Knit Headband 2 (using double pointed needles)
1/20: Knit Bracelets (with or without beads)

Children's Beginning Knitting Classes
Does your child want to learn the knitting fundamentals? Our children's course covers the same topics taught in our adults' beginning knitting course, but with smaller class sizes and spread out over three 90 minute classes. At course completion, students will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.
Children's classes take place every Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. Students can begin the course on any Wednesday, but all three classes should be completed within a four-week period.
The course fee is $75.00 which includes yarn, needles, and a children's pattern and instructional book (which is later utilized in the Kids' Meet Ups). Class size is limited to 4 students.

Children's "Build a Class"
If you are interested in our children's knitting classes but are not able to make our scheduled class times, you can "build a class" for the same price as long as you have a minimum of three students. Just give us a call and we will set up a class schedule that works for your group!
