STUDIO AVENUE SIX TRUNK SHOW

Tue June 21 - Sun June 26 

Many of you know our beloved Rachel Maurer who runs the Tuesday afternoon meet-ups and teaches knitting classes to adults and children. But you may not know that Rachel is also the creative force behind Studio Avenue Six, a collection of beautiful yarn hand dyed in Park Slope, Brooklyn.    

Her gorgeous line of superwash merino yarns and innovative patterns will be in the shop from June 21-26.  And don't miss her launch party on Tuesday June 21 from 7:00-10:00 pm with complimentary treats and $2.00 root beer floats!

KNIT BIKINI WORKSHOP

With Elizabeth Kosich and Josh Bennett

Wed June 22 from 6:30-9:30 PM 

Knit bikinis are not only a fun, sexy summer project, but they are a perfect study in customizing a pattern to achieve an exact fit.  Our guest instructors for the evening are Elizabeth Kosich and Josh Bennett, the designers behind the knit bikinis in the Spring/Summer 2011 issue of Vogue Knitting.   

Using their pattern as a basis, Elizabeth and Josh will demonstrate how to utilize increases and decreases, short rows, pattern math, and other design elements to create a fabulous, fully functional, custom fit bikini that will really showcase those skills of yours!

Date:  Wednesday June 22nd

Time:  6:30 to 9:30 pm

Cost:  $50.00 plus materials

 Yarns:  Cascade Fixation or Katia Gatsby

 Needles:  Two 24" US 2 circular needles for Fixation

or US 1 needles for Gatsby

 Additional Materials:  Your favorite bikini to model fit

Elizabeth Kosich designs a collection of chic, sexy swimwear under the label Elizabeth Kosich New York.  Originally inspired by her own hand knit project, the collection features luxury knit bikinis and elegant resortwear that celebrate the sophisticated woman's modern aesthetic. Wearable both on land and in water, come see how the old-fashioned knit bikini has been revolutionized by her superior fit details, fashion forward designs and water-friendly modern technology.  Also as part of the workshop, Elizabeth will be sharing her design philosophies and the creative process behind the 2011 'Mondrian Collection' .  

Josh Bennett, the man behind Boy Meets Purl, has an extensive collection of hand knitting designs and patterns.  Regularly featured in Vogue Knitting and Knit.1, Josh is known for his form fitting, fashionable designs for both men and women.  Josh has also made his rounds in the classroom, and will be teaching workshops on Custom Knitting Design and Designing and Knitting Men's Wear at VK Live.

"The little street that could" does it again!!  Come take a stroll down Smith Street from Bergen to Union Streets on Sunday June 26 for Smith Street Funday Sunday.  There will be eight blocks of curated exhibitors featuring food, drink, shopping, face painting, games, and more.  We'll be doing our thing with Studio Avenue Six with with free demos, special promotions, and project kits outside the shop. And be sure to pop inside for a cool drink and air conditioning!
