It's summertime and the living is easy. Seasonal stitchers have packed up their yarn and needles until fall, the shop is a little less frantic, and we finally have a chance to let loose and play. For the month of June, we've programmed a series of events to help you advance your skills with an extra helping of fun!
Wed Jun 8 (7-10 pm) - LET'S GET BOMBED!!
Please join us this Wednesday for a bombing party with Marie Segaris, the Underground Crafter. Bring or buy yarn to stitch and share and make funky colorful pieces to adorn the city on International Yarn Bombing Day. 2-for-1 sake bombs all night plus free knitting help for those participating in Marie's charity/art project: Chase the Chill. Tue June 21 (7-10 pm) - STUDIO AVE SIX LAUNCH PARTY
Many of you know our beloved Rachel Maurer who runs the Tuesday afternoon meet-ups and teaches knitting classes to adults and children. But you may not know that Rachel is also the creative force behind
Studio Avenue Six, a collection of beautiful yarn hand dyed in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Her gorgeous line of superwash merino yarns and innovative patterns will be in the shop from June 21-26. Sun June 26 (11am-6pm) - SMITH ST. FUNDAY SUNDAY
"The little street that could" does it again!! Come take a stroll down Smith Street from Bergen to Union Streets on Sunday June 26 for
Smith Street Funday Sunday. There will be eight blocks of curated exhibitors featuring food, drink, shopping, face painting, games, and more. We'll be doing our thing with Studio Avenue Six with with free demos, special promotions, and project kits outside the shop. And be sure to pop inside for a cool drink and air conditioning!

Don't miss this bikini design master workshop with
Elizabeth Kosich and
Josh Bennett, featuring their stunning pattern from the Spring/Summer 2011 issue of
Vogue Knitting. Knit bikinis are not only a fun, sexy summer project, but they are a wonderful study in customizing a pattern to achieve a perfect fit. Come explore elements of the design process with these two amazing designers, including shaping techniques, pattern math, and creating a custom, functional fabric for your garment. Tue June 28 (7:00-9:00 pm) - POPPY FLOWER WORKSHOP
Nancy Ricci's (
Getting Purly With It) delicate knitted
poppy flower is a perfect little summer project for adventurous or advanced beginner. Yarn overs, ssk's, and k2tog's will make soft curves in this flower design. Made out of fine mohair, the flowers are knitted flat with an easy seam to be completed in no time. They are a beautiful embellishment for yourself, your clothing, or a gift. Fri July 1 thru Mon July 19 - HOLIDAY CLOSING
We will be closing the shop for a couple of weeks for some much needed rest, relaxation, and of course, knitting!
