But first, since we've got your attention, a public service announcement. We will be
CLOSED SUNDAY MAY 29TH in observance of Memorial Day, so make sure to pick up everything you need for the long weekend this Friday or Saturday. Now back to the program...
Calling All Renegade Knitters And Crocheters...
Saturday June 11th is the first annual
International Yarn Bombing Day and we're looking forward to doing our part to spread
yarny goodness around the world. And of course, we'd love your help!
We are hosting an International Yarn Bombing Day Pre-Party on Wednesday, June 8th from 7:00-10:00 pm to make sure everyone is properly equipped for the big day. Bring some stash yarn, buy some new yarn, snag some of your friends' yarn. Then throw it all together to make fun, colorful pieces to adorn your surroundings on Saturday, June 11th.
Plus, we'll be having 2-for-1 sake bombs at the cafe all night, so there should be plenty of inspiration flowing!
...And Rebels With A Cause
Marie Segares from the
Underground Crafter will be co-hosting the night and talking about her new project:
Chase the Chill. Chase the Chill is a combination of public art, charity, and
yarn bombing. Individuals or groups work on scarves throughout the year and then on one designated day, wrap these scarves in public places. The scarves include a hang tag asking anyone to take ownership of them.
This is a great opportunity to test out a new stitch or technique that you've been wanting to try, and we will be providing
free help all night to anyone working on this project. Additionally, anyone who completes a scarf for Chase the Chill will get 20% off any purchases they make when they bring in their finished project.
Bombing Brooklyn... A special thanks to all of our lovely customers that were shanghaied into making panels to yarn bomb our bench. We will be assembling all the pieces at our party on Wednesday, so anyone who contributed can enjoy sake bombs on us while witnessing it all come together.
...And BeyondRegrettably, Jen and Amanda will be missing the big bench reveal on Saturday because we will be in Columbus, OH for
TNNA. (Check us out in one of the photos from last year
here!) But that means we will have a chance to spread a little La Casita yarn bomb love in Columbus. Let us know if you'd like to contribute and we'll take photos of your piece in it's new home.
Hope you can join in the fun!
