MI SSIONARY MOMENTS
August 28 - September 4, 2011
Downtown Madison, Wisconsin, is the home of the University of Wisconsin and its 40,000 plus students. North American missionary AARON JOZWIAK has planted a church there, but it's been over 50 years since an SBC church has been successfully planted in the city. The campus and surrounding area are fertile grounds for a new church plant, but there is much to do in order to penetrate the hardness of the students' hearts. The spiritual warfare is real. Your prayers and your continued support of missions through CP are needed to tenderize the hearts of those on and around the campus. Pray for Aaron and for a church planting movement to begin and spread from the churches in Madison.

Both "D and K' are transitioning to new language tutors while continuing to study in a local language school. Languages are key for these workers to build relationships and share the Gospel. Recently, K had a great opportunity to share with some ladies in a nearby park about her faith, and D had the opportunity to share with a shopkeeper his personal story of how he began a relationship with God. They were both able to share with these locals the message of salvation in the best Arabic they have at this point! They continue to build relationships with families in their community and visit with their neighbors. Your continued support of missions through CP speaks many languages, all of which help point people to Christ. Pray for D and K as they share the message of Christ with those around them. |

LEADERSHIP
ACCOUNTABILITY COMPLICATION THREE: "I've been accepting mediocrity for a long time." Reality: As leaders we usually try to ease into new roles not wanting to upset the status quo. However, what usually happens is years go by and nothing ever really takes place. Did you know that the longer a leader goes with no expectation or accountability the longer we allow mediocrity to remain, which in turn, the less you will feel justified in making big changes. Fact: In order to be effective in holding people accountable you need to begin now if you haven't already. Please know that with accountability come changes, and with changes come new expectations. So, make sure to communicate clearly what the changes will be and what they can expect. Rest assured that people will complain when facing change, and they will say things like, "We've never done it that way before!" Stay strong though and keep the focus. For as a leader you need to have the guts to take charge, strive for excellence leaving perfection to God! Today is the day!

PRAYER REQUEST
Cecil Sims, longtime pastor, leader, and former Executive Director of the NWBC, was taken to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital by an emergency crew, August 24. The emergency crew was called because of serious health issues that hit Cecil late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. After examination by several doctors, Cecil was diagnosed with serious occasions of cancer. Cancer was discovered in his brain, both lungs, and his kidneys. He has been in the ICU unit of the hospital. Physicians are planning to conduct several biopsies in the next few days to determine the strength of the cancer and any potential for relief or cure. Dr. Bill Crews and his wife Jo Ann visited Cecil in the ICU unit of Meridian Park Hospital and had a time of prayer with Cecil as he continues in the ICU unit. All believers are encouraged to fervently pray for Cecil, his wife Jeannine and their family. |

SAFE MINISTRIES
In recent days SAFE Ministries has been going through reorganization. After talking with Director Joey Carroll, it has come to our attention that they would like to discontinue the in-patient program and go strictly to an out-patient program, which would mean they need to sell the LaCenter, WA property. In the letter received from Joey, they are offering the property, including the house, to the Association for $275,000. The Association is obviously not in a position to purchase the property, but asked if we could share this information with other churches or non-profit organizations who might consider buying it for the same price. If you are interested, please contact the IBA office 503.452.2930 or Joey Carroll, 360.687.0720.

ISBDR TRAINING
There will be training for ISBDR on Saturday, September 24th, 2011 from 9:00am - 1:00pm at Quincy Baptist Church (the corner of F St Se & 3rd Ave SE in Quincy WA.
This is a perfect opportunity for people who would like to get involved with Disaster Relief to get started. If you need to get current on your ISBDR Certificate, this is would be the perfect time.
ISBDR is a required course for all Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers. More than 85,000 SBC volunteers have prepared themselves to assist during a crisis event. This class explores the many aspects of Disaster Relief, the motivation behind SBC Disaster Relief, what defines an occurrence as a disaster and the many types of services or ministries that are available through this ministry. You will learn how individuals, churches and associations are organized to work together and coordinate a response with partner organizations such as the American Red Cross.
Southern Baptist churches, associations, and state conventions have purchased vehicles and equipment. One area that has assisted Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in becoming one of the top disaster response organizations in the world can be traced back to the training of volunteers. State Baptist convention leaders invest many hours and dollars to provide appropriate disaster relief training. Every three years volunteers are asked to participate in retraining with new equipment, procedures, and leaders.
