MI SSIONARY MOMENTS
July 17-24, 2011
In Rapid City, South Dakota, North American missionaries GARY and SHARON HAHLER serve existing churches, facilitate the church planting process, and lead community outreach efforts. Through training, resources, and coordinating missions teams, Gary is able to reveal the message of Christ to those at the Sturgis Bike Rally. From coast-to-coast and border-to-border, your commitment to reaching people through the Cooperative Program empowers ministries like those led by the Hahlers. Pray for the churches of South Dakota to understand God's plan and how they can join Him. Pray for the seeds that are planted through these outreach efforts - that God will water them and that they will result in many coming to a saving faith in Christ.

"JANE FAST," working with Levant and Arabian Peninsula peoples, sees God reaching out to Muslims in her area. Jane shares, "A distraught, rejected Muslim woman cried out to God, 'If You are real, show Yourself to me!' Her teenage, arranged marriage ended in abuse. Her home, job, and honor were in shambles. After crying out to God, she had a dream in which she woke up on a bed with scarlet red bed coverings. She was led down a hallway into a room full of people focused on Jesus at the front. He looked at her, with blood on His face and body. He had tears of deep, sincere love in His eyes. She instantly believed and has led others to Jesus." God is heaing your prayers and honoring your support of missions through CP and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Pray for Jane, this woman, and this ministry today. |
Religious Landscape
The number of practicing Muslims around the world is steadily growing and is expected to reach close to 2.2 billion worldwide over the next 20 years. In the U.S. alone, the Muslim population will more than double to reach an anticipated 6.2 million in the coming years. The number in Canada is expected to triple to 2.7 million by 2030. With the religious landscape of the world rapidly changing, consider how your church can work to reach those of other faith backgrounds for Christ.

OUTLOOK
Beyond The Myths - The Hard Reality of Leading People
For a lot of people, being hands-on requires a fundamental rethinking of the leader's role and management relationship. Managing and leading people in the real world is no "bed of roses," and there is no easy solution. Most leaders are under a tremendous amount of pressure at times. Also, this brings us back to the fact that some of the people that we move into leadership positions are good at something, but they are not always good at managing people.
Thing to remember: If you ask someone to lead, make sure you give them effective management training along with the clear expectations you have for them, and they can have of you as their leader.
The hard realities of leading:
- You cannot always have a superstar. You have to use the best person available. Often that person is in the middle of the spectrum, not at the top.
- When you do have a superstar, they can be harder to manage than the mediocre people.
- Even if you set expectations clearly, sometimes those we lead don't achieve those expectations.
- Not everybody is a winner.
- Dealing with failure is a big part of managing.
There are no easy answers, because if there were then we would be living in a fantasyland. However, to begin the journey of finding the solutions, it will take a lot of guts, skill, time, and discipline. When that happens then you will know you have something to offer!

Bring Refuge for Refugees in Greece To date we have received $1250 toward the $2,000 Matching Funds (see last paragraph). Members of The Crossing Baptist Church will be going on mission to Athens, Greece this summer. Cooperating with the International Mission Board, they will join Team Athens and the Oasis Refugee Ministry. Pastor Troy Pound will be leading the group, and will also use this opportunity to explore the possibilities of creating mission and church planting partnerships there. Every day refugees from North Africa, The Middle East and Asia arrive in Athens, Greece. Because of the Oasis Refugee Ministry many will hear about Jesus for the first time. We will serve by providing clothing, serving hot meals, giving groceries and sharing the gospel message. God will use us to make a difference for Him. We also have the exciting opportunity to discover how The Crossing Baptist Church will assist Team Athens with the Arms Around Athens Project. The goal of this ministry is to plant healthy churches within all the municipalities of Athens. Key leadership from The Crossing will accompany us as we discover the Lord's direction in partnering with these new church plants. We would like to spread the Gospel to unreached people in and around Athens. Would you assist us in accomplishing this mission? You can become a part of our mission partnership team? Here are some things we ask you to pray about: - Pray that our mission's team will be spiritually prepared for this work
- Pray that God will provide the $6,000 needed for the trip
- Pray for the safety and effectiveness of the Mission Team
- Pray the hearts of the people will be open to hearing The Gospel
If you would like to help with this worthwhile ministry, you can send your gifts to IBA, PO Box 19960, Portland OR 97280-0960. The Associational Leadership Council has approved $2000.00 matching funds for donations made through the Association. Future funding for mission trip support will also be included as a budget item starting in 2012 make our goal of assisting churches in missional endeavors possible. |

IMB NEWS
Thank you for your partnership to take the gospel "to the ends of the earth." IMB and IBA appreciate your support in promoting the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO). The official result has been shared and IMB is overjoyed to report that 2010 offering was the fourth largest LMCO in history with a total of $145,662,925. However, this also represents 2.2 percent decrease over last year and $8.3 million less than the IMB's 2011 operating budget needs. This does not make us draw back from the task. There is an unprecedented world-wide harvest of souls in the world and more lost people today than yesterday. So we must press on, continue partnering, so we can fulfill the task the Lord Jesus has commanded of us. |

MINISTRY REVIEW
The Griffins have answered the call of the Lord to the ministry of music, and are dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in song. We believe the world we live in today is in desperate need of the encouraging and saving message of Christ and His promise of eternal life through salvation. We are blessed and honored to be given the opportunity to bring encouragement to those who know the Lord and more importantly, to use music to reach those who have not yet experienced the joy of those who are saved by grace.
The Griffins bring musical background of more than four decades to their ministry. Together the trio's close harmonies and worshipful melodies combine to be musical salt and light to a world still searching for answers to the ultimate questions of life. No venue is too large or small.
