A Letter from the Head of School
Dear Montessori Parents,
Today we will be mailing your registration forms for the 2012-2013 school year. Please return the forms before April 16. We want to make sure that we have a place reserved for our current students before enrolling students on our waiting list.
As you know our curriculum is divided into four tiers that span 12 years, offering the child continuity and progressive development.
The key resides in the prepared environment which invites each child to:
- freely explore sequenced materials at his/her own pace
- gain independence and self-confidence
- be self-reliant and seek adults' help only when necessary
- experience for himself/herself the joy of discovery and learning.
The four tiers corresponding to the four planes of development are:
- specially tailored to meet the child's need at each stage
- divided into three-year spans in each tier to allow continuity, leadership, and a close relationship with the teacher.
Our goal is to foster scholarship through:
- independent, individual, or cooperative work
- long periods of uninterrupted work and concentration
- complete mastery of skills through repetition and practice
- trust and respect for peers
- a thirst for learning, abiding curiosity, and joy.
"Excellence because children are worthy of nothing less."
-Maria Montessori-
Enjoy the beautiful weather.
Many thanks,
Peggy Higgins
