A Letter from the Head of School
Dear Parents,
We all know that there are some things that even money can't buy. It is impossible to place a monetary value on the importance of the contribution made by the volunteers who help throughout the year to make your school's ongoing activities and annual special events a success.
Parents, grandparents, and friends of our school are often found helping out with classrooms, driving for school trips, serving on the Board, cleaning up after a storm, rebuilding fences, helping with special events, working on the Annual Giving committee, and preparing for the Auction.
It is the combined efforts of faculty and parents that help generate the mutual feelings of commitment and excitement that have enabled our school to continue to grow stronger and expand over the years.
Our volunteer parents, grandparents, and friends of our school provide the kind of direct support to our program that money simply cannot buy.
On October 21 we will celebrate an International Day of peace. Our celebration will begin with the Parade of Nations. Each student chooses to wear a cultural costume from a country of their choice. After the students parade around the playground we share a potluck dinner of food that you have prepared with recipes from around the world. This is a wonderful evening of food, fellowship and fun.
We have a signup sheet in the office for you to let us know what country costume your child is wearing and what dish you would like to bring. We will also need volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. We have albums from previous years if you need ideas for costumes, etc.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday for your parent conference. At Montessori, this is the equivalent of the "report card." We cherish this time that we have to sit down and discuss the progress of your child. We know that your child's growth is dependent on the team effort of school and family.
Many thanks, Peggy Higgins Head of School |
