Dear Parents,
Thank you to the families who attended the Annual Board meeting and those who participated in the election of Board members. As a non-profit school the Board members have important responsibilities. Some of those are as follows:
· Create and review a statement of mission and purpose that articulates the school's goals
· Assist in preparing the annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place
· Ensure adequate resources for the school to fulfill its objectives
· Ensure adherents to legal standards and ethical norms
· Ensure that the Head of School has the moral and professional support she needs to further the goals of the organization
· Recruit and orient new board members
· Articulate the school's mission, accomplishments and goals to the larger community and garner support.
Welcome our new Board members and officers. We join you in thanking them for their work.
Each year we update each student's record of immunization.
We must file an immunization report annually with the State Health Department as required by General Statute 130A-155(c). We would appreciate an updated copy of Physical Exams and Immunizations any time they occur. This would help us to have updated records all year.
Our students bring their food for meals from home. If the food does not meet the nutritional requirements outlined in the Meal Patterns for Children that is in your Parent Handbook, the school will provide additional food necessary to meet those standards. We will also notify you of any nutritional deficit. These requirements include milk. Many parents send the student's preferred milk product in their lunch in a thermos. As a staff, we have decided to add milk to the snack list.
We are beginning to make preparations for International Night. Next week we will have a signup for food and volunteering in the office.
Many thanks,
Peggy Higgins
Head of School
