A letter from the Head of School

Dear Parents,

Montessori made the following statement in England in 1948: "We claim that the average boy or girl of twelve years who has been educated until then at one of our schools knows at least as much as the finished high school product of several years' seniority, and the achievement has been made at no cost of pain or distortion to body or mind. Rather are our students equipped in their whole being for the adventure of life, accustomed to the free exercise of will and judgment, illuminated by imagination and enthusiasm. Only such pupils can exercise rightly the duties of citizens in a civilized commonwealth."

As a quality Montessori School, we continue to maintain these beliefs. Three major facets are applied without exception: the prepared environment, the prepared adult, and freedom with responsibility. The child learns through interaction with the environment prepared by the teacher. The planned environment is as carefully planned scientifically and methodically. Materials are organized by sections with systems to support the student's ordered progress.

When a student walks into the classroom at the beginning of the school year the curriculum is prepared to support his study. There need be no worries about meeting his needs. He can progress as quickly as his development and mastery demands. Montessori classrooms support the greatest possibility for a student to reach his potential.

Concentration and careful effort are supported by the orderliness of the environment. The teacher introduces materials and the student learns through their independent practice. Montessori said, " One thing has been well established in our experience, facts are of less interest to the child than the way those facts are discovered."

Thank you for your support of our effort to offer this amazing experience to your children. I believe that we are preparing "citizens" just as Maria Montessori claimed in 1948.

Many thanks,

Peggy Higgins

EASY FUNDRAISER!

NO BUYING OR SELLING NEEDED

One fish...two fish...nearly new fish is an up and coming children's consignment sale in Eastern North Carolina. To help promote their event, they are providing a fundraising opportunity to us. All we have to do is distribute special flyers with our school name on it and encourage people to shop the sale on Thursday,

March 31st

and present our flyer at check-out. For all sales associated with one of our flyers, the school makes an easy 10%.  If you want to sell children's items or shop the sale, it will make the sale an even bigger success, but it isn't necessary as part of the fundraiser. We passed out flyers in carpool, but we have also attached the flyer in a PDF format if you would like to print some to distribute through your business. Please follow the link for the flyer:
