| A Letter from the Head of School | |
Dear Parents, Next week we will celebrate Thanksgiving at school with our Harvest Feast. We honor the traditions that first emerged from the gathering of the Pilgrims and Native Americans on that first Thanksgiving Day. Squanto is said to have given a most beautiful blessing at that first celebration. "As long as the moon rises, As long as the grass grows green, As long as the rivers flow, We shall be friends and live in peace." I join you in deep gratitude for the many joys of life that include friends, families, love and peace. I thank you for giving us the privilege of participating in your life and the life of your child/children. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. All my best, Peggy Higgins

Mardi Gras Masquerade
| MCS Community,
After the Thanksgiving Break we will be having our kick-off meetings for the 4th Annual Montessori Auction Fundraiser. Last year we were able to raise over $52K in one fun-filled evening of live music, fantastic food and drink, and silent and live auctions. We sold everything from jewelry and shoes to vacation homes and sporting event tickets. We had works of art, home improvement items, legal services, personal health and improvement items and services and class project items created by the students themselves. The sky is the limit!! So put on your thinking caps and come up with some creative, fun ideas of what your friends, family and local businesses might donate to bring in big money!! Come to a kick off meeting either Tuesday night the 30th of November at Credo's Pizza & Ribs at 7 or on Thursday morning December 2nd after drop-off at Your way Cafe - whichever works better for your schedule. Not only will you be helping the school but you will have so much fun getting to know the other parents and working towards a common goal!
Thank you, The Auction Committee

The Grace and Courtesy Corner
Please. Thank you. You're welcome. Excuse me. May I join you? Grace & Courtesy Stories from the Montessori Classroom and Beyond! The snack table is a wonderful source for stories that illustrate grace and courtesy, warm our hearts, and make us giggle. Four-year-old Mario loved to invite me to have snack. "Would you like to join me for snack?" he'd say. Once I sat down at the snack table, Mario would ask me, "May I get you a cup of water?" "Yes, please," I'd say. He'd continue, "Would you like warm or cold water?" (I found out later that Mario's mother preferred warm water.) "Cold, please." Mario would serve me my snack, and we'd sit and chat. The conversation topics ranged from sports to his older brother to our favorite animals. At the end of snack, we'd thank each other for the delightful experience, clean our dishes and glasses, and tuck in our chairs. Another child, Tyler, loved to motion to the snack table (seating for two) and say, "Let's have snack together!" His brother, Dylan would inevitably ask, "Excuse me. May I join you?" and carefully carry an extra chair to the snack table. Always polite, we'd take turns speaking as we ate snack. We used our napkins to wipe our mouths. Always eager to tell me about their latest trip to the lake, Tyler and Dylan's banter always made me smile.
