A Letter from the Head of School

Dear Parents,

Thank you for the efforts you made to make our International Night a great success. The costumes were amazing, the food was delicious, and the fellowship was enjoyable. A special thanks to Keri Gernand and her committee for the fine job they did. It is wonderful when we can have a huge celebration on Thursday evening and come into the school on Friday morning and have an immaculate school. Thank you!

Many thanks,

Annual Giving Campaign
Dear Parents,

In 2000 a study was conducted by researchers at the Departments of Economics at the University of Central Florida, and Vanderbilt University demonstrating the impact of "seed money" on a fundraising campaign. It was determined that while notifying the target audience of the  launch of a fundraising campaign, stating that a significant portion of the total fundraising goal had already been pledged through substantial donations of "seed money"  resulted in up to a sixfold increase in total giving! That does not mean 60% more, it means 6 x as much! $100,000 does not become $160,000, it becomes $600,000!

This "seed money" comes from extending an invitation of participation to a select group of influential contributors before the larger audience is given the opportunity. These important individuals appreciate the power and leverage that enhances their gifts. Because of your history of generosity and love for our school, we have included you in this select group with the opportunity to "seed" our very first annual fund! This is an awesome opportunity to help us create a massive success that will affect our annual fund campaign efforts year after year.

Another great advantage of the annual fund is that contributions are likely to be tax deductible. Several obscure, but potentially important "tax deadlines" occur during the month of October. These may be particularly pertinent in 2010 given the changes in eligibility for Roth contributions. Check with your financial advisor, tax professional or Accountant for details.

The annual fund can help the school fill many areas of need. There is never a shortage of wonderful ideas for furthering the education of our children, or adding new programs to make that education more complete. However, the main purpose of this fund is to ensure that we are able to keep the tuition low. In keeping with the cultural context, and stated mission of the school, we need to keep tuition as low as possible so that we are able to attract new families to the school every year, as well as allow many of the lower income families to continue their children's attendance.

While the concept of an "operations budget" isn't as glamorous as many of our recent successful campaigns, it will free us to work from a position of greater financial strength and security while ensuring that position results from a true sense of prosperity and abundance. We'd love to have you help us build a great deal of momentum for this project, and ensure that it is an empowering success for the school!

Thank you very much for you thoughtful consideration,

Sonny Rains
