A Report from the Bookkeeper

Our First attempt with the new automatic payment system went smoothly except for a few minor glitches. Thank you for your patience during this transition.

If you have not taken advantage of this new service, please download the form from our website. After entering the website click on the Family Information tab and you will see a PDF link for a bank draft form or a credit card form.  Please choose one of these and return it to the office.  Our Board's intention was to offer this time saving, convenient service to our families while also maintaining a sound financial standing for MCS.

Tuition payments are due by the 15th of each month. A $25 late fee applies to all payments not received by the due date.

Your feedback and comments are always welcome. I can be reached directly at mcsj1@embarqmail.com.

Thank you,

Sharon Kane
Bookkeeper

A Letter from the Head of School

Dear Parents,

For the last two years the increase in tuition has been modest while the cost of operating the school has continued to increase. This year we are establishing an Annual Giving Fund to close this gap between the cost of running the school and the tuition the school charges.

The MCS Board of Directors works diligently to maintain affordable tuition. Therefore, a successful Annual Giving Fund supports this effort by keeping the tuition increases as low as possible.

Unlike tuition, your gift to the Annual Giving Fund is tax-deductible and many employers will match an employee's donation, effectively doubling your gift.

 Volunteers Needed

We will need about five volunteers to help during the first weeks of the Annual Giving campaign.  I will work with this team of volunteers to create a painless and enjoyable volunteer opportunity that will make a big difference to the school. To volunteer, call me in the office or send me a note within the next week.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

 Many thanks,

Peggy Higgins

Head of School

Lunch Time Update
Parents,
MCS would like to remind everyone that lunch is a very important part of the school day.  Under state regulation each student must have a serving of both fruits and vegetables.  When a student doesn't have one or both of these items it is the schools responsibility to provide it.  Also, it is very important to NOT send your child Chocolate Milk and or other items of a chocolate nature.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Thank you,
The Office

International Night

In all of our Montessori classrooms the children study the cultures of many nations around the world through music, dance, art, cooking, geography and history. Primary students study maps and learn to recognize flags. Elementary students do research and delve into more detail about the many types of government, natural resources and history. By learning to appreciate other cultures we find our similarities and realize that we are all connected.

On October 21st Children, parents and friends will gather at MCS to celebrate an International Day of peace.  Our celebration will begin with the Parade of Nations. Each student chooses to study and to create a cultural costume from a country of their choice. After the students parade we share a potluck dinner of food that you have prepared with recipes from around the world.  This is a wonderful evening of food, fellowship and fun. It is an outdoor event so you may want to bring a picnic blanket.

We have a sign up sheet in the office for you to let us know what country costume your child is wearing and what dish you would like to bring. We will also need volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. We have albums from previous years if you need ideas for costumes, etc.

"Quote of the Week"

"Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment."
