Dear Parents,

 

     Welcome to the 2010-2011 School Year.  Montessori Children's School seeks to provide a foundation for life-long learning.  Thank you for your commitment to Montessori and your commitment to life-long learning for your child.

     We have had an especially busy summer with the beginning of the Elementary Classroom building. It is a very exciting prospect to be able to move into this beautiful new space by the end of the calendar year. Many thanks to our Board and especially to Katherine Ellsworth for the many hours spent on seeing this project move forward.

     We welcome back extraordinary members of our faculty and look forward to introducing you to new faculty and new special programs.

 

Now I will give you a few details in preparation for the school year.

 

• A school calendar is enclosed listing your Orientation Night date. Please note each class has their own Orientation Night. This is an evening when parents come to the school without their children.  They meet their Classroom Directress, PTO Representatives, Board Representatives and other parents. I will briefly explain the Parent Handbook, etc. It is an important evening that should help you get the year off to a clear and positive beginning.
• The School Calendar for the year is posted on line. August 23^rd is our Classroom Orientation Open House. This is a morning for you to drop by with your student to see your classroom and meet the Classroom Directresses. Please watch for an e-mail for information about your student's classroom orientation schedule.
•  School T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, School Bags, etc. are available at Land's End with our school logo.
• The School has a Uniform Policy for all students in Young Children's Community, Children's House, and Elementary.  The students dress in the school colors, navy blue, khaki and white.  These colors may be worn in any combination.  Solids are preferred.  Please no clothing with large logos or characters.  Blue Jeans and MCS T-shirts are great.  School clothes should be practical and comfortable.
• Supply Lists are posted online for all classrooms.
• We have planned a Workday for August 28^th from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. This will be a day to work on our beautiful outdoor environment. Watch for more details.
• Please review the Parent Handbook which is posted on the website.
