Explore the Core!
This week explore downtown Tampa for FREE! Here are a few ideas of places you can go in downtown Tampa and not spend a dime. Enjoy the city!
Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park - Located along the edge of the Hillsborough River, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is the perfect place to kick a ball, people watch or put on the swimming suits and run through the fountain. The park is bordered by the Tampa Museum of Art and the Glazer Children's Museum.
Tampa's Riverwalk - Take a stroll along Tampa's Riverwalk and enjoy the fact your downtown sits on the water! Start at the southern end of the Riverwalk at Channelside Drive and Meridian Street and stroll behind the Tampa Bay History Center, Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel and Marina and the Tampa Convention Center. Small pocket parks line the waterfront walkway making Tampa's Riverwalk the perfect oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Oaklawn Cemetery - Located on downtown's northern tip, Oaklawn Cemetery is the final resting place for some of Tampa's most prominent families. It is also unique because it is the final resting place for past slaves. A walk through Oaklawn Cemetery offers a glimpse into the city's unique past. For a PDF map of the cemetery, click here .
