A Farewell to Carver
Carver is now gone but not without leaving a lasting impression on the staff and community. The comments to the left are just a few from our visitors log during the Carver exhibit. We hope the exhibit as it travels will help ensure that the entire Nation reacquaints itself with the work of George Washington Carver as an advocate for sustaining agriculture. We had our closing Carver event on Thursday, July 8. It was a great event honoring the exhibit we all have enjoyed since its opening in March. We would like to thank the members, the community and the supporters for making this exhibit such a success. This remarkable exhibit is on its way to the Museum of Science in Boston, Massachusetts. It will open be open there from July 31 to October 24, 2010. The exhibit will then travel to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan from November 20, 1010 to February 27, 2011. |
CSS Alabama open to Public
One of the guns of the Confederate raider CSS ALABAMA has been delivered to The Museum of Mobile. The cannon has been a welcome addition to recovered artifacts the Museum already has on loan from the U.S. Navy. It is the centerpiece in the 700 square foot exhibit gallery funded by the Mobile Museum Board that opened to the community Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Now is a great time to come visit the Museum of Mobile. This opportunity that we have to see an original cannon artifact is a great chance to see a little piece of history |
