GE EPISCENTER
Shook-RJE, a joint venture, has been selected as the design-builder for this exciting project in Dayton. GE Aviation will locate a $51 million research center in the Ohio Aerospace Hub on the University of Dayton campus. The 115,000 SF Electrical Power Integrated Systems Research and Development Center (EPISCENTER) will be built on River Park Drive near the intersection of Patterson Boulevard and Stewart Street. The Center will be operational by late 2012 and will work cooperatively with the University of Dayton Research Institute to develop and deploy advanced electric power systems for aviation and aerospace applications.
The GE EPISCENTER is part of the region's Aerospace Hub of Innovation designed to attract and support advanced technology companies.
The GE project is enabled by an Ohio Third Frontier capital grant of up to $7.6 million.
GE Aviation, an operating unit of GE, is a leading provider of jet engines, components and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft.

Completion of Miami Valley Hospital Southeast Addition

In October 2010, Skanska Shook, another joint venture, completed the $152 million Southeast Addition at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.
Prefabrication methods used on this project allowed Skanska Shook to be in the forefront of the medical construction industry. The 178 identical patient rooms and 120 overhead corridor utility racks of the patient tower were prefabricated in a nearby 35,000 SF warehouse before being installed at the jobsite. This allowed two months to be cut from the schedule. By having an integrated team of 18 workers complete the prefabrication in a clean, orderly, temperature controlled warehouse, this process proved to be safer, faster and more cost effective than traditional construction methods.
The new addition officially opened to the public in December 2010! |

Message from our CEO

-Frank Klein
Welcome to 2011 from the Shook Construction family! We have completed our financial projections for the next three years and we are optimistic about our future and the future of the construction industry. This optimism is due in part to the increased activity and opportunities we are seeing in our Water Resource, Health Care, and Industrial market channels. Even though our conservative culture prompts us to be somewhat guarded about our optimism, we continue to see positive indicators that economic recovery is underway.
Shook is grateful for our many clients who have trusted us with their projects. We firmly believe our willingness to collaborate and to provide outstanding customer service and careful spending are the reasons we continue to be successful.
We look forward to the opportunity to work with you soon. Please take a moment to read about our successes, new projects and community outreach.
