New Releases
Whimsey Meadow Rose 2009 This wine blends grapes of VT, NY and Quebec to produce a barely
off-dry wine with ripe strawberries on the nose, notes of cotton candy
and a refreshing cranberry finish.
Lakeview White 2009 This semi-dry blend of Cayuga White with Chardonnay and a touch of
Louise Swenson and Gewurztraminer offers a floral nose ripe with berry
and peach and a soft, long balanced finish that melds strawberry and
pear.

Winemaker's Notes:
Getting one's wine safely
into bottle is a great relief for a winemaker. Over the past few months
bottling of our white wines has been a top priority, and we are almost
there. With the exception of a Chardonnay and a dessert wine, all of
our 2009 whites are waiting to hit shelves. The reds on the other hand,
are a slightly different story. Right now almost all our red wine is
aging in the barrel. Six to eight months in, the wine is softening nicely
and picking up subtle hints of its oak companion. Just the other
day we racked our 2009 NuMondo out of the barrels and into a tank for
settling before bottling soon.
On the vineyard end of things,
the season is off to an early and rapid start. Berries have formed on
our Northern Varietal grapes, and bloom is approaching on our later
varieties. Right now we are amidst a heated battle against ever-growing
weeds, finishing up the last of our shoot thinning, beginning to position
longer shoots, and always remembering to enjoy a glass of wine after
a hard day's work.
Another important and recent
development was the establishment of our newest vineyard site in Charlotte.
On June 2, we planted 4.35 acres of the cold-hardy hybrids, LaCrescent
and Marquette, with a minor amount of Prairie Star. We will also plant
a trial of a new red variety, Petit Pearl. In addition, our Rt 7 Vineyard
increased by another 0.5 acre of Marquette, planted just North of our
existing acreage. All this rain is great for the un-irrigated young
vines, but there's a downside to everything. Wet, humid weather at
these temperatures is optimum for disease. So far we have seen very
little, but let's hope for some sunny, warm conditions soon.
