Athletes will work on swim, bike and run drills, games and workouts, as well as the all important 'transitions' from one sport to the next. Participants should be able to successfully swim one pool length (25 yards) without assistance. Each athlete should bring a swim suit, goggles, towel, bike, bike helmet, running shoes, workout shorts, a t-shirt and a water bottle filled with water or an energy drink.

Becoming a Triathlete by Sarah F.
THURS - Little over a week to go. Coach Suzy is already working on my schedule for next week...I'm excited to see what race-prep workouts she's going to lay out for me. Nerves are starting to get in my system and butterfly-feeling hits whenever I think about the race. Ran 1200's at track workout tonight. Wow, those were tough!
FRI - Swam in open water tonight. Could feel hips sinking and hear Coach Suzy in my mind telling me to "picture those hips rising!!" Practiced tri-sighting...almost ran into 1) a kid, 2) a kayak, 3) a dock. (So much for sighting!) Body's still aching from some tough workouts this week.
SAT - Recovery day! Spend some quality time with the family...it seems limited some days from all of the training. Feeling blessed to have such a supportive husband and family. Phil graciously takes on solo-parenting duty a lot when I'm off doing workouts.
SUN - Exhausting Brick today. Suzy said it's my last tough workout before the race, thank heavens!! Legs are tired and fatigued beyond belief!
MON - Nerves are getting the best of me, stomach is churning constantly, and I am doubled-over half the day. Went for open water swim tonight, but feeling nervous overall!

Racing Fun!
We train all winter. We build our schedules around workouts and having a healthly lifestyle. And finally, it's time to put our fitness to the test and have some FUN!
We are half way through the midwest triathlon race season and it's been a great ride so far. In the last few weeks we've been at many races including Schaumburg, Evergreen and Racine. In August we'll be off to ET Summer Camp, then the HRMS Naperville Triathlon and Pleasant Prairie.
We hope that your training and racing is going well, and that you'll be able to join us at one of our group workouts or events soon!
Enjoy the photo sets from the most recent races.

Coach's Corner by Joe LoPresto
Anything is Possible!
Beating the Demons, Chapter 2
In Chapter 1, we talked about Beating the Demons with proper goal setting. With proper goals, stress is reduced and success is more likely in training, racing and life.
Now let's take a look at another way to Beat the Demons.
We'll start with another of my favorite inspirational quotes:
Anything is Possible!
Is this really true? Come on, anything?! How can this happen? There are certainly limits, right?
Well, not as often as we think. The only thing that limits most of us is the thoughts in our head that say, "I can't do it." The mind is very powerful and believes whatever you tell it. If you tell the brain you can't do something, that is exactly what happens in most cases. If you tell yourself, "I can do it," positive actions start to occur to meet the objective.
