Greetings and happy fall! For many of us around the U.S., this summer presented a challenge with record breaking heat and humidity. These conditions led to increases in energy consumption and an unprecendented number of demand response events as utilities struggled to meet demand on peak days. While none of us enjoy paying more for energy, perhaps these conditions are another wake-up call as we seek to use less to improve our buidlings performance
With that in mind, Servidyne is proud to serve as a lead sponsor for the Southeast's largest green building show, the GreenBusiness Works EXPO in Atlanta October 26 - 28. In addition to exhibitors and many sessions related to sustainability, we are joining our friends at the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance in presenting a "conference within a conference" featuring energy efficency and sustainability on October 27. If you can be in Atlanta that week, we certainly encourage you to attend and would love to talk with you in person. Until then, keep turning off your lights and adjusting your thermostats - cooler weather must be around the corner somewhere!
Thank you and happy reading.

The New Deal Maker: Utility Rebates
Written by Chantale Levy, Servidyne Expert
In circles throughout the energy business, we hear about companies paying for elaborate energy audits to identify savings opportunities, only to have the audits collect dust because the capital needed to implement the recommendations is limited, or the return on investment is a little longer than desired. Energy Services providers like Servidyne are challenged with bridging the gap between the energy audit and the actual implementation of these recommended energy efficiency projects.

Identifying Utility Rebates & Incentives
Written by Brian Hughes, Servidyne Expert
For many companies, creating sustainability programs for their buildings can be a daunting task. Economic times have made it increasingly difficult to find funding for larger projects and many organizations opt out of participating in many opportunities because they are simply unable to generate the funds.
However, there are opportunities that you can take advantage of that can help you and your organization finance energy efficiency projects. The first step in finding these opportunities is to identify sources of rebates and grants offered by utility companies. How do I find these rebates and grants?
In this article are some suggestions for identifying sources of rebates and incentives offered by utilities. Follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to finding rebate programs in your area.

Servidyne Sponsors Special Energy Track at the GreenBusiness Works EXPO
Energy "Conference within a Conference", Oct. 27 in Atlanta, Georgia
Energy efficiency and sustainability are at the heart of the GreenBusiness Works EXPO's Energy "Conference within a Conference". The Southeast consistently ranks among the nation's fastest-growing regions, yet it is one of the least active with respect to energy-efficiency programs. The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), a coalition formed to promote energy-efficiency policies and practices in the region, is furthering its mission by hosting this energy track in partnership with EXPO sponsor, Servidyne.
"Servidyne is proud to sponsor this day long energy session. While the adoption of solar, wind, and biomass energy gets a great deal of press, the largest and least expensive resource to help meet our future energy needs in Georgia and across the Southeast actually lies in our existing buildings," said Todd Jarvis, president of Servidyne."Working together to improve the energy efficiency of these buildings can free up 20 percent or more of their energy consumption, helping to fund future economic growth across the region. Importantly, this resource is also far cheaper to develop and bring to market than renewables or new generating capacity."
Those who have a primary focus on energy and the future of energy will want to attend these sessions. Join us and learn about:
- Energy Policy and Finance - How do they intersect?
- How to Design and Implement a Strategic Energy Program
- Delivering Energy Efficiency and Sustainability - Case Studies
- What is a Smart Grid?
We welcome everyone to attend the Energy "Conference within a Conference" on October 27, in Atlanta, Georgia, to learn how to generate a terrific ROI and improve your business's competitive position through energy efficiency.
