Proposed Medicaid Waiver Changes
Greetings!

The Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) is proposing some changes to the Medicaid Waiver system, but would like to hear from the public first. You have until August 21 to share your thoughts about the changes.

CMS is a Federal organization; their decisions have a direct effect on individuals and organizations in Indiana.

Briefly, CMS is considering making changes to target group rules, which would allow states to design service packages based on need rather than diagnosis or condition. According to CMS, this is an effort to design more "person-center, needs-based service delivery."

For more information on the proposed changes, read the linked document from CMS: Proposed Rule Changes

Support the Foundation

The Peak Community Services Foundation provides support to persons with developmental disabilities who are on waiting lists for services and who live in Cass or Pulaski Counties.

There are many different ways of calculating the numbers of individuals on waiting lists in the State of Indiana. One source has the number at over 19,000. Another source has the number at closer to 13,000. A national source (ANCOR) has the number at over 32,000.

Regardless, any of these numbers are unacceptable, particularly when you understand that the individuals making up that number may be on the waiting list for 10 years or longer.
