Aid to Japan at Resources 2011

CranesIn an effort to contribute aid to the earthquake victims in Japan, we have joined an increasing number of organizations who are raising funds for victims through the sale of Origami "Cranes".  These folded-paper birds are considered good luck to the Japanese people, and making a thousand of them is believed to ensure that the wish attached to them will come true. Our IFDA colleagues in Japan are very grateful for any help we can give them and feel particularly touched that fundraising is taking this form, since it is so closely tied to their traditions.

While we may not be able to make a thousand of them before "Resources", we are planning to sell them at that event for $5.00 each - every penny of which will be donated to the relief effort.  WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help make Origami "Cranes". If each of us made just a few of them, together we could make a meaningful contribution to people who need our help.

Origami paper is available at craft stores, and instructions are available on line. If you have any questions, and are able to help, please let me know. So many people would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Passaro

In addition to planning for "Resources" in October, we need to be thinking about our Board of Directors for the 2012 - 2013 year, and the first step is to ask the general membership if there is anyone among you interested in a position on the Board.

Part of the vitality of any organization is dependent on new members who are willing and able to become actively involved in the established goals of the group, and who bring fresh ideas and objectives to it as well. We know that, and encourage all of you to think creatively about what new plans for the group you might want to suggest and see implemented, and to give serious thought to becoming active participants in the Washington DC Chapter of IFDA.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer please contact me either by email or on my cell - jacqueline.passaro@benjaminmoore.com or 571.230.7317.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jackie Passaro, President
