Interurban TrailWe hope you can take advantage of the beautiful Interurban Trail on your next visit to Cedarburg.  This 30 mile off-road trail spans the entire length of Ozaukee County and is easily accessible from The Washington House Inn.  Take a leisurely stroll or pack your bikes, rollerblades and walking shoes for an activity-filled visit.  Or, save on the packing and consider renting from one of our locally owned outlets:  Local Motion Outfitters (single and tandem bikes and trailers, canoes and kayaks), Brother John's Art World (262-339-7578 for vintage bike rentals; ) Aqua Guide & Outfitters (kayaks, kayak instruction, wild life viewing).

Just another quick reminder about the Inn's new "Cedarburg Sampler Package" which was announced last month.  The Sampler Package includes lodging at The Washington House Inn and certificates to Anvil Pub & Grille, Amy's Candy Kitchen, Rivoli Movie Theatre and the Cedar Creek Winery.  You may contact the Innkeeper anytime to schedule your visit, or click on the "Reservations" tab on our website where you'll access our on-line Rezovation system.  The package rate is $250.00 (available Mon-Thurs).  Don't worry about planning anything, it's all organized for you!

Calendar of Events--August 2010
 
August 8 Erin Ortiz, wine expert and connoisseur, will share the "ins and outs" of small-batch wine making at Riveredge Nature Center. Late summer and fall is abundant with fruits just ripe and ready to be made into wine. She will also bring several samples of wines she has created. 6:30-8:30pm, $12 adults; $10 members.
 

August 9-14 The 92nd PGA Championship is scheduled to take place at Whistling Straits, Kohler, WI.

  

August 13 Cedarburg Farmer's Market takes place every Friday from 9am-2pm, June through October. Find a wide variety of fresh farm produce, organic foods, flowers, herbs and perennials, fresh coffee, bakery and artisan crafts.

 

August 13 Head to Cedar Creek Park at 6:30pm on Friday, Aug. 13 to hear Sarah Borges & the Broken Singles perform roots rock as part of the Summer Sounds 2010 free concert series; 6:30-10:00pm.

 

August 15 Bluegrass fans are invited to visit Pioneer Village for an afternoon of music with well-known bluegrass musicians; noon-5:00 pm.

 

August 20 Pack a picnic and head to the Summer Sounds concert at Cedar Creek Park to listen to American English, a popular Beatles tribute band who are bound to get everyone up and dancing; 6:30-10:00pm.

Recipe of the Month
 
Almond Iced Tea
 
3 tablespoons instant tea (unsweetened)
2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
12 oz. lemonade concentrate
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups pineapple juice (16 oz.)
6 cups water
 
Mix instant tea, 1/2 cup water and sugar.  After dissolved, add the remaining ingredients.  Makes 12 servings.
