For my part, I travel not to go anywhere,
but to go.  I travel for travel's sake.  The great affair is to move.

Seasons Greetings from Cedarburg!

The Cedarburg merchants and local residents sure know how to turn on the holiday charm!  Holiday lights are strung everywhere with wreaths and boughs tastefully adorning every possible surface along the downtown Historic District.  Capture the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas with a visit to Cedarburg during this magical season.

A gift certicate to The Washington House Inn extends a wonderful sentiment to those special people on your gift  list.  Gift certificates can be written for specific guest rooms, a Spa Getaway Package, the Mid-Week Getaway Package or for specific denominations.  Contact us to order your gift certificates or order on-line at www.WashingtonHouseInn.com.  We process orders for Gift Certificates immediately upon receipt to ensure the quickest delivery possible.

This year marked the Inn's 25th Anniversary and as the year winds to an end, we look forward to welcoming 2010 with a bang!  Celebrate the New Year with a stay at The Washington House Inn.  Our New Year's Eve guests enjoy a lively visit in the Gathering Room--including an appetizer buffet served around 10:00pm and a midnight champagne toast.  Before retiring to their guest rooms, many guests enjoy a midnight stroll along Washington Avenue perhaps including a stop at the Silver Creek Brew Pub or one of several other local pubs to extend their revelries.  Who knows what new traditions await you in Cedarburg!

The collective sigh of "what happened to the butcher shop" was heard far and wide and fortunately for all of us, Schwai's Meats & Sausage heard the cry and heeded the call to expand their business with a new butcher shop right here in downtown Cedarburg.  With their original shops located in Fredonia and Jackson for the past 70+ years, the Schwai family was eager to expand their business and now occupy the old-time storefront where four generations of the Hoffman family ran their meat market until retiring last year.  Now the Schwai family is offering their speciality meats (hams, bacon, turkey, beef jerkey) and signature-seasoned bratwurst and sausages.  Be sure to pick up some good eats for your holiday table.  They can be reached by phone at (262) 376-2060.  Yes, another thing to be thankful for.

Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,

Wendy J. Porterfield, Innkeeper
