The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.

--St. Augustine--

Greetings from Cedarburg!

The Wine & Harvest Festival was a great kick-off to our beautiful mid-western autumn. Cedarburg's pumpkins are out and the scarecrows are on duty.  October is a BIG month for art enthusiasts to take in the sights during the Arts Weekend Studio Tour celebrating the arts in Ozaukee County.  This self-guided Studio Tour and Gallery Walk features 50 local artists throughout the towns of Cedarburg, Port Washington, Grafton, Mequon and Thiensville.  The event begins with Friday night Scarecrowsfestivities at the Cultural Center including a silent auction of art-inspired baskets and live accordion music played by Stas Venglevski.  Peer through the front windows of the Cultural Center to view artists at work painting portraits of live models throughout the evening.  The rest of the weekend can be spent casually roaming the county catching a glimpse into the well-known and emerging artists' studios and their work.  Visit www.cedarburgartistsguild.com for more information.

The final Maxwell Street Days of the year will be held on October 4. This popular flea market returns to Fireman's Park on North Washington Avenue in Cedarburg.  Hundreds of vendors will sell antiques, crafts, collectibles, produce and more from 6am to 3pm rain or shine.  Admission is free.

Experience the dark side of Cedarburg on a 90-minute Gothic History Walking Tour through the National Historic District with stops at the Washington House Inn and the Kuehufuss House.  What dark tour would be complete without a stop at the local cemetery? Listen to stories and witness scenes of mystery, intrigue and death from 1900s - 1920s. These tours have gained in popularity so much so that advance ticket purchase is necessary.  Tours take place on several dates in October rain or (moon) shine.  Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.  Visit www.cedarburgculturalcenter.org for the schedule.

Revel in the luxurious pampering that awaits you at one of our local spas.  Our "Spa Retreat Package" has become popular enough to require a bit of advance planning and our Innkeepers look forward to helping you schedule yours.   Participating spas include: Bella LeiBespoken SalonBodymindspiritworks or DeRiah Salon.   This Spa Retreat Package offers a great room combined with a $100 gift certificate to a local spa for various services.  The package rate is $195.00 + taxes and includes lodging (Sunday-Thursday nights) and spa services (Monday-Friday).   Contact our Innkeepers anytime for more information.

We'll see you soon.
Sincerely,

Wendy J. Porterfield, Innkeeper
