Randal Harrison Trio" (jazz). Harrison's gutsy, hard driving swing and inclusive approach to composition are the basis for the Randal Harrison Trio. The Randal Harrison Trio's repertoire of mostly original pieces draw from the great masters of the American Jazz tradition, Indian Classical music, Appalachian Funk, Gypsy and Klezmer traditions of Easter Europe and Astor Piazoola's Tango Nueve of Argentina. 8:00pm, $14.
April 5 Maple Sugarin' Pancake Breakfast hosted at
Riveredge Nature Center. The secrets and sounds of the sugarin' season add to the pleasure of the Maple Sugarin' Pancake Breakfast outside at the Sugar Inn. A unique treat featuring Riveredge's maple syrup, "All you can eat" pancakes made with organic flour, ham, coffee and other beverages. Dress for the weather. Riveredge Nature Center: "Back to Basics with Spring Cleaning." It's time to clean out the dust bunnies this spring! Get the dirt on various conventional products and the toxic ingredients they contain, and learn about safe and natural ways to clean your home. Make your own eco-friendly cleaning products during this hands-on program using ingredients that can be found in your pantry and won't harm the environment or your health. Please bring an empty spray bottle if you would like to take a sample home. For adults and children ages 8 and up. Adult $5, 12 & under $4; 1-3pm.
April 17 Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series Presents "
Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen" at the Unitarian Church in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series was created in 1992, born from a passion for acoustic music and intelligent and entertaining songwriting. The Series is a volunteer organization with all revenue going towards artist fees and operating expenses. Riveredge Nature Center: "Trash into Treasure - Practical Plastic Creations." Wondering what to do with all that plastic? Join us for a hands-on session as we learn and practice techniques to turn plastic waste into treasure. Try your hand at knitting or crocheting a durable "plarn" (plastic yarn) shopping bag or purse, weave wallets from snack wrappers, or create a basket masterpiece from plastic strapping. No previous craft experience necessary! The color and creativity involved in this program-not to mention the positive implications for the earth-are bound to delight all. Cedarburg Cultural Center presents "Tomato Dodgeball" an Adult Comedy Improv. This event is a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and includes improv hairdos compliments of Bella Lei Salon, pizza from Romano's and beer from Silver Creek Brew Pub. Following these events, McMann & Tate Productions takes the stage to play improv comedy games with audience suggestions! Skits involve mild adult language and content. Fundraiser starts at 6pm and Comedy show at 8pm; $14.
April 25 Earth Day Work and Learn at
Riveredge Nature Center. Join the Riveredge staff in activities that promote the health of our community and planet. You can help prepare the beds and plant cool weather crops in the organic garden, participate in a prairie burn (weather dependent) and/or work as a habitat healer and conduct grounds clean up and invasive species eradication. There are opportunities for groups, families and individuals of all ages to get involved. Check the website for more information and other activities on this exciting day. April 29 The Cedarburg Cultural Center is proud to present the world famous "
Glenn Miller Orchestra." This is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. Trombonist Larry O'Brien is the orchestra's present musical director. 7:00pm, $25.
