* * * SND 2011 Donation Receipt Anouncement * * *

This year we are combining our donors advanced notice of their 2011 personalized tax receipts with our end-of-year SND news and plans for 2012!   With postal rates increasing yet again, sending most letters via email saves us at least $800 every year!  We always think of costs in terms of how much money it takes to help a Dobe in need - Saves $$, Helps Dobes!! If you made a donation in 2011, you will be receiving a personalized plain-text email from donations@doberman911.org. Please keep in mind that the IRS does not require special documentation for any donation made which is under $250 (any single donation, not your aggregated or total donations) - your check, PayPal email or receipt from the SND Online Store for any donations is all you need. For specific advice, please consult your accountant or tax preparer. If you have any questions, you can send us a message at donations@doberman911.org

Greetings SND Supporter!

Thanks for your support of SNDobies this past year!! Here is most of the "news that's fit to print" as SND begins another year!

SND in ReviewIn 2011, the economic downturn began to seriously hamper our efforts to provide financial assistance for extraordinary medical expenses for Dobermans in need. Before our December 2011 Secret Santa Campaign, it appeared that we would end the year with only 60% of 2010's income level - a drastic reduction in terms of potential assistance! Because of Secret Santa and our very successful Christmas Crafts Combo Raffle, that potential deficit was cut in half. Total income for 2011 was approximately $78,600 which was only 22% less than our income for 2010.  If you donated during the year, during our Make Santa Pay or the raffle - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Because of our year end carryover from 2010 and our income from 2011, we were able to disburse approximately $85,000 in 2011 and we hope to at least maintain this trend for 2012. Although year-end donations are very gratifying, it does make planning a bit more challenging when roughly 30% of the year's total is just a projection. The economic realities with which all of us are faced tell the tale.

As we complete our tenth full year of operation, our programs continue to assist the ever expanding number of Dobes in need. With the economy affecting more and more people, the financial needs of Rescue groups and of privately owned Dobes became even more acute. This has meant that the workload for the SND volunteers has increased proportionally as they strive to process the applications and increase fundraising efforts. In 2010, 144 requests for assistance were logged; in 2011 this number increased by 32% to 190 requests from Rescues and private owners. Remember, this happened in a year that showed a 22% decrease in total income from all sources!

Assistance to Rescue GroupsRescue Groups continue to be most impacted with the ever-increasing number of Dobermans finding themselves in rescue. For some, the economy has become a self-fulfilling prophecy and at times an excuse to give up their responsibility to their Dobes. Because of this situation, SND has continued to shift additional resources in support of Rescue Groups. During 2010, 76 of 100 cases assisted by SND were Dobermans in Rescue - 76%!! Indeed, SND will continue to focus the majority of our efforts to assist Rescue Groups with non-routine extraordinary veterinary expenses.   In 2011, a total of 91 cases were helped - 85% of them presented and accepted from Rescue.
Assistance to SeniorsSenior Dobermans remain the target of two wonderful programs. The Senior Medical Assistance Program is a joint project of SND and The Doberman Pinscher Magazine. The funds raised in this program make dollars available exclusively for the care of Senior Dobermans in Rescue or privately owned. The Senior Doberman Project, which provides a "clearinghouse" website listing Seniors in Rescue seeking adoption and the Sponsor-A-Senior (SAS) program, is a joint Project of SND and the Doberman Digest. Because of the hard work of our SDP Manager, Debra McMahan, 85 Seniors were listed by Rescues and more sponsors were found for these Seniors than ever! There were 56 adoptions of Seniors in 2011 - the highest number since 2004 and 12 more than last year!! At the end of December, 59 Seniors were seeking adoption and sponsorships and of those, 23 Dobes still needed sponsors.

Looking Forward. In spite of these economic times, SND has thus far been able to adapt to meet these additional needs with reduced income. Because of your help, we were able to continue to assist Dobes needing assistance with extraordinary medical expenses!! We hope you will continue to support Dobermans in need in 2012 as the SND team continues efforts to keep these programs in motion. We will continue with the emphasis on assisting rescue and we will help qualified private cases on a limited basis as we are able. Remember to take a moment to visit the SND website at www.doberman911.org to get the latest SND news, the status of the Dobes we are helping, the Seniors in the Senior Doberman Project and the latest eBay auctions.

THANK YOU for your support and a Happy New DobeYear 2012 to you and yours!!

For the SND Family,

Mars
