I hope all of you had a safe and happy week. For me, it was a nice week having spent the weekend with my oldest son who came home for the weekend from college. We attended our local high school football game on Friday night
and yes, Cony did beat Bangor for the first time in 22 years! Having been on the losing end for so long, I actually felt bad for the opposing spectators, players and coaches. It was a lopsided victory which even compounded the feelings. Don't get me wrong, I was elated for our fans, players and coaches for this is a long time coming, if you have been a high school football fan in Augusta. Big game Friday night against an undefeated Brunswick team. A win in Brunswick will push Cony up in the standings from their currently ranked 9th position by a Portland television station. I personally can never remember Cony being ranked in the Top 10 of all high school football teams. What a great feeling! Congratulations to the coaches and players.
If you ask why my interest is so high, I will tell you that I have a 17 year old son who is a senior tri-captain. He starts as outside linebacker on defense and left tackle on offense. He plays hard and absolutely loves the game. Ever since Kyle was 1 year old he was being banged around by his older brother and Dad always played hard with the boys when they were young.
Best of luck to all the high school athletes whether it be football, field hockey, cross country or any other sport.

While at the game last Friday night, I met an old friend and G & E Roofing customer. In fact, Mr. Rand's house located on Purington Avenue in Augusta, Maine was the very first roof installation performed by our company. It was installed in 1975 and consisted of 20 squares of a 235 pound shingle. I asked Dick if the roof was still performing well after 37 years and he informed me that he had sold the house. Thank you Dick for entrusting your most valued investment in the hands of a couple of kids, I'm proud to say we did you right. Before we get fluttered with calls, we no longer perform residential installations but in fact work on commercial buildings only. Nice to see you Dick and to see that you are in great health.

New footings for Dine-ah Too
This past weekend, we had "The Dusters" an antique auto club out of the Ripley/Milo area join us for lunch. They came down in their antique cars to enjoy a meal at several of their club members favorite diner/restaurant. They had beautiful cars and all the members were very friendly. We were honored that they chose the China Dine-ah and hope they return. Many of the members said "we will be back".
