Good Thursday to All,
This past Monday marked Labor Day 2012. Kids are all back to school and all our summer vacationers with children have headed back to their respective communities. Overall, the weather this summer was very nice, making it easy for people to enjoy outdoor activities, whether they were traveling or having a "staycation" that we heard a lot about a couple of years ago. It seems, we have all become accustomed to the higher price of gas and that single factor is no longer ruling how we spend our free time.
The next significant date on the calendar is September 11th which marks the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took down the Twin Towers in New York City. As our way of acknowledging and thanking all First responders, we will be offering a free non alcoholic beverage on Tuesday September 11, 2012 to any current or past first responder and their guest. If you were or are currently a firefighter, police officer, medic or any other type of first responder just let your server know and beverage(s) are on us! Just a small token of our appreciation. This goes out to all volunteer first responders as well. In fact, small towns such as China rely very heavily on volunteers and a couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to witness first hand some of the great work these people do. There was a car accident just up the road from the Dine-ah and within minutes the road was shut down, traffic diverted around the accident scene, first aid was administered to the passengers and the roadway swept, all by volunteers until the Kennebec Valley Sheriffs Department arrived as well as an ambulance. I believe most of the volunteers were the China Volunteer Fire Department members, excellent job by all!
It could have been bad, however only minor injuries were sustained in the accident due to the proper use of children's car seats, seat belts and airbags.
I need to make a correction from last weeks newsletter for I left
off Hannah Peabody, one of our capable servers who is attending Husson College this year. My sincerest apologies Hannah. This mistake was brought to my attention by Pat a reader before my staff had an opportunity to bring it to my attention. Thank you Pat!
I would like to thank all of you readers who wished these college students all the best in their next journey in life. Some of the girls will be picking up a weekend shift here and there, so the void of them leaving will be not be felt as badly.
I did pick up my son Derek and Josiah up at Thomas this past Monday and brought them out to camp for a quick lunch, haircuts and a load of laundry. They both love the college life and why wouldn't they the first week? The real work hasn't begun but don't tell them. It was so nice to see them even if only for four hours.
According to the calendar this Sunday is Grandparents Day. If you have a grandmother or grandfather give them a call. I am sure they will be greatly appreciative. My first thought was to send them a text, an email, friend them on Facebook or tweet them but for my generation the phone call is the safest bet and an email would be second best.
This past Sunday Dude the Dine-ah Dog was at the Windsor Fair meeting and greeting youngsters. Visitors received a Dude tattoo and some treats. Speaking of the Windsor Fair, what a wonderful event and as always the committee and volunteers did an excellent job.

Hope to see you soon, thanks for following us through our newsletter.
Remember if you wish for those of you who enter our weekly drawing to drop me a note under the comment section. I always do my best to respond to all who write.
