Good day to all!
Have we had enough rain for everyone? If not, I recommend you move to the rain forest because sooner or later we should have some relief!
There has been a lot happening at the Dine-ah getting ready for this summer. Meagan, Ryan and their crew along with Sherri, Michelle and their crew are ready to cook and serve you some of the best home style cooking you've had in a long time. Lobster rolls are back and lobsters are coming soon along with many other summer features.
Last Sunday morning we had the China Dine-ah's Girls Softball team and their families come in to thank us for their sponsorship. We had approximately 35 (players, coaches and parents) in the back room. At one point all the girls in perfect harmony sang "The China Dine-ah" song. The girls went on to tell me how proud they are, because none of the other teams that they play have their own song! It was really nice to see everyone and I can only imagine, how well they represented the Dine-ah when they traveled to other communities to play.
Thank you girls, coaches and parents!

China Dine-ah girl's softball team!
This morning we had a surprise birthday party for China resident Bob O'Connor which was organized by his significant other Linda Silvia. The event was attended by thirteen of Bob's friends and they started off with a birthday cake made up of seven extra large blueberry pancakes. Fun was had by all and at 9 am they all headed over to Bob and Linda's to continue the festivities. They surely had a good day for it. Congratulations Bob and all of us at the Dine-ah wish you many, many more! Thanks for choosing us as your place to celebrate!

Celebrating Bob O'Connor's Birthday
With the Fourth of July fast approaching, I thought it would be appropriate to honor a request of one of our avid newsletter readers and customers. Peter Kallan, almost daily sends out notes , letters, poems, articles, pictures- you name it- to a large group who are on Peter's email list. They are always either very funny, heartfelt, patriotic or sometimes just out there, but I can tell you, I read most of them with the utmost of interest. He must spend hours researching and looking for the material, that he in turn sends to friends. Peter asked if I could possibly send this out in our newsletter, and being so closer to the Fourth of July it is so appropriate, so here we go:
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE
FLAG,
OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA ,
AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR
WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE
NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE,
WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
KEEP IT LIT!! KEEP IT LIT!
For all of our other military personnel, where ever they may be.
Please support all of the troops defending our Country.
And God Bless our Military
who are protecting our Country for our Freedom.
Thanks to them, and their sacrifices, we can celebrate the 4th of July
We must never forget who gets the credit for the freedoms we have,
of which we should be eternally grateful.
I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform;
so young, so tall, so proud.
With hair cut square and eyes alert,
he'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil;
how many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
NO, FREEDOM ISN'T FREE !
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
when everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen.'
When a flag had draped a coffin
of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
of the mothers and the wives,
of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea.
Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
NO FREEDOM ISN'T FREE
Enjoy Your Freedom
and
God Bless Our Troops.
When you receive this,
please stop for a moment
and say a prayer for our servicemen.
Of all the gifts you could give a U.S. Soldier, prayer is the very best one.
Thanks Peter for giving me the opportunity to share this with so many people.
Hope to see you all at the Dine-ah, just not all on the same night. We would have a problem Houston!
Have a Happy Fourth! We are open from 7 am to 8 pm to serve you a wonderful home cooked meal while giving Mom or Dad a break.
