View from The Corner Booth
Dear Friends & Patrons,
With my head spinning in so many different directions before my long flight to India, I sat down in the airport looking forward to writing my newsletter this week but before I could start on a topic, I received the following email from a devoted patron, Elaine Ferreira from Unity. I knew it had to be my letter for this week. It is a true and heartfelt example of why I so much enjoy hearing from you all. Below is the email exchange Elaine and I had yesterday which touched my heart and after receiving her permission, I wanted to share it with you all.
Elaine wrote: 3/21/2012 - My husband James and I always enjoy taking friends and family to the Dine-ah and we have made a lot of fond memories there. Just last week we were in for lunch and I was staring at a special booth and smiling. Smiling because it was the place I sat with my cousin Lois from Florida who was here on earth for too short a time. We had a "bucket list" lunch with Lois and ordered everything we wanted, even though we knew we would not be able to eat it all. We took lots of containers "to go" with us when we left that day! It was one of my last memories of Lois as she passed away the following spring.
My three grandchildren also love the China Dine-ah and they just love saying "Chinaaaa- Dine-ahhhh" a lot! They asked me to send them some t-shirts to Rhode Island where they live. I tried to purchase them once before but all three sizes were not available at the time, so to avoid conflict, none were purchased. My husband James is in LOVE with your prime rib sandwich! We also enjoy having Amanda as our wait person, she is very good and we get her as our server most of the time when we stop by for lunch." - Elaine
I wrote back: 3/21/2012 - I'm sitting here at the Portland Jetport waiting to fly out to visit my daughter in India. I'm having a hard time typing on my Blackberry because my eyes are all welled up with tears after reading your note to me. Very touching and moving. Last week I wrote about how much I enjoy all of our readers stories and yours is a winner. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your experience with me and I hope to meet you someday. Always wishing you and your family the very best, Norm."
Thank you Elaine for sharing special memories in your life with us. We are so glad the Dine-ah is part of those memories.
The next time you hear from me I will be with my daughter in Goa, India. I look forward to writing from you there. Stay tuned.

We are open Easter Sunday April 8th - 7 am to 6 pm (seating right up until closing) We will have our Easter menu out next week, which will include ham, turkey and lamb among other menu items! We will be serving a new feature on Tuesday nights starting at 4pm "All You Can Eat" haddock fish fry!
Mother's Day Sunday May 13 - 7 am to 7 pm
Father's Day Sunday June 17 - Regular hours - 7 am to 3 pm

Meet Tricia Cycz Tricia Cycz (pronounced Siz as in the word sizzler) just moved to Palermo from Montana and is engaged to be married in October. When we met Tricia at her job interview, we had a feeling she would fit right in and we were right. Tricia brings a sparkling personality to her job and has been able to hold her own with our regular customers who have stated, "We'll break her in right!" Tricia started working as a server at the Dine-ah in February of 2012. She says she likes her job because she likes the crazy people she works with. Tricia says her favorite meal is Veggie Alfredo but stresses that she is not a vegetarian. We asked her if there was anything else she would like to share with the customers and she said, "I'm new, so please be patient." Tricia also shared that she has two St. Bernards at home in Palermo and a twin sister back in Montana. In her spare time, Tricia likes to fish, hunt and go four-wheeling. We are wondering what it would be like to have two of Tricia?! All joking aside, we are very happy Tricia had become part of our China Dine-ah family and she is ready and anxious to meet all of you.
