beautiful Mukogawa Ft. Wright in the Commons for this year's Leadership Spokane
Graduation and All Alumni Reunion. Come
meet the graduates of both the adult and youth programs and get re-connected to
friends and colleagues from past classes.
The ceremony begins at 5 pm.
Dennis Mitchell is our featured speaker; the graduates will receive
their diplomas, and the trustee leadership awards and scholarships will be
presented. A social hour follows at 6 pm,
with complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and punch. You can take in our photo gallery (featuring

Elaine Couture, Class of 2005, new Chief Executive of
Providence Urban Hospitals
Elaine Couture, Class of 2005, is stepping into the role of new chief executive at Providence Urban
Hospitals (Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital and Holy
Family Hospital). She previously was the chief operating officer
of Sacred Heart and president
of Holy Family. Couture came to Providence Sacred Heart in 2002 and became the Medical
Center's chief operating officer in 2005. Couture was a practicing nurse from 1977 to 1989. She holds
a bachelor's degree in nursing from Montana State University and a master's degree in
business administration from Liberty University in Virginia. |

Kingfisher (2010), Washington State Department of Ecology, has been accepted into the Masters of Strategic
Leadership Towards Sustainability in Karlskrona, Sweden starting in August of
this year (http://www.bth.se/msls). Kathy Maurer (1999) is now the Special Events & Marketing Manager for Sacred Heart Children's
Foundation.
Paul
Oleniacz (2004) has taken a new position as Director of
Development and Communications for St. Joseph Family Center. Dennis Hession (1989) has recently joined Blue Water Technologies Inc. of Hayden, Idaho, as director of special projects. Michael D. Wilson (1985) has joined Pneumex Inc., of Sandpoint as an advisor to the executive management team. Kelly Stopher (2008) joined Allied Fire & Security as chief financial officer. Jan Roseleip (2003) and the Tomlinson Real Estate Group have teamed up with Coldwell Banker Real Estate nationally and will now be called Coldwell Banker Tomlinson. Sonja Carlson, former Leadership staff, is the new Project Associate for Community
Based Economic Development at Community-Minded
Enterprises. Amanda Sparr (YLS grad and former LS intern) is now at EnviroIssues, Inc. working with public outreach on the Alaska Way Viaduct in Seattle.

 Frankie Dietz (2005, pictured right), Anthony's Restaurant, recently traveled to Jamaica with the 1,000 Smiles program. Michael D. Wilson (1985) has been named to the Health Sciences & Services Authority. Christy Burmeister-Smith (Leadership Spokane former board chair) Avista, has

Patty collected over 700 books to help children in need last month. With your
help they were able to deliver 453 books to two Boys and Girls
Clubs, and 269 books to the Union Gospel Mission. Both organizations

Dandoy just received $2,000 from the Inland Northwest Community Foundation to support their Salvation Farmy project. The KXLY Extreme Makeover Team has also adopted the project. Visit the garden today just off Ruby Street at 222 E. Indiana. "Salvation Farmy" is a
community garden created for the residents and members of the community
so they can learn the art of
gardening. Goals are self-sufficiency and healthier eating. For more information, please read the blog here.
Awards, Etc.
Congratulations to INHS and Nancy Vorhees (1983, Leadership Spokane board member). INHS is one of 15 recipients in
the country to be awarded a Beacon Community Grant. The $15.7 million will
be used to increase preventative services for diabetic patients in rural areas
through coordinated health IT supported care. Don Jamieson (2005) Tomlinson Black Commercial, and Karene Garlich-Loman (2009) Tomlinson Black South, have received the Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification from the National Association of Realtors, of Chicago. Shann Ferch, presenter for Leadership Spokane classes and Gonzaga professor recently received the Rum Short Story Prize from Rum Magazine, of Fort Collins, CO. Elaine Whaley (YLS 2009, Leadership Spokane board member) recently qualified
for the state golf tournament.

Exploration Camp is being hosted by the Cathedral Arts Workshop on 21, 23, 28, and 30 June and 7 and 8 July. Children ages 4 through 14 are invited to come rediscover the magic of summer and explore new cultures and faraway lands by drawing, painting, and sculpting. Cost is $125 per child.

people ages 13 - 18 and adults who interested in addressing a variety of community youth
