Leadership Thought

"I have been asked several times, 'What did you learn in
Leadership Spokane?' I know I discovered
more about my community, resources and how I can contribute. However, as I reflected on this question, the
answer is deeper. I learned the true meaning of 'Servant Leadership.' Listening, awareness, empathy, stewardship,
and the importance of building a community, these are just a few important
characteristics of Servant Leadership.
For me, most of these characteristics come naturally; however, Servant
Leadership development is an on going life-long learning process. I aspire to sacrifice self interest for the
good of the group, or community. My hope
is others can do the same."
- Wendy LaMorte, Group Health, Class of 2009
