We asked and HUD listened. An official clarification is now posted in APPS regarding the Signature Authority document controversy!
Now posted in the What's New section
at the APPS Home Page is the following:
"If the President or CEO of a corporation is signing for the entity, no other signature authority document is required. If the Managing Member of an LLC is a person and signs on behalf of the entity, no other signature authority document is required."
We hope for similar clarification from HUD regarding pass-thru entities and partnerships soon. Keep your eye on What's New in APPS.

| REAC Tip: New Non-scoring Findings | |
Did you know? The new REAC Compilation Bulletin provides some relief to owners and managers.
Several inspection findings that have historically frustrated O/A's no longer carry point deductions.
Resident Owned Fire Extinguishers is one, as is Resident Owned Broken Sharp Edges. These items, if verified as resident owned, should now be recorded as "EH&S - Other Hazard", which is non-scoring for a HUD Reac Inspection.

| APPS Tip: Certifications | |
Did you know? In some cases, APPS submissions will be marked as "Return to Applicant" if 6 months passes without processing approval.
Certifications on APPS e-2530's cannot be "refreshed" or "recertified". If you are told that your certification has expired, you must re-submit the e-2530, which includes obtaining signatures on a new Submission Package.

HUD will verify you have a current and accurate HUD 2530 on file at Contract Renewal and even hold up your Rent Increase. Any time principals of the owner or management agent change (and that means new board members on the non-profit boards too) an updated 2530 filing is required. Don't get caught out of compliance! |
