HUD released several key APPS updates last weekend, but the most important change arrived this morning, with the approval to accept a PDF of the e-2530 signature packages in lieu of an original wet ink signature. (See our APPS Tip below for more details.)
Great news for the industry, as many times signature packages are delayed or misplaced. An additional benefit is the savings of time and money that will be realized. Hats off to HUD for this innovative solution!

| HUD System Tip - Access Key Letters | |
Did you know? HUD had some unidentified problems disbursing Access Key Letters in June.
This affected only a small portion of all letter requests, but if you were expecting an Access Key Letter that did not arrive in June, simply use the Re-send Letter function under your Coordinator ID in User Maintenance. The letter should arrive in due speed. (as long as the address is correct)
Good news is that there appear to be no problems with letters requested in July.

| A Fond Farewell! | |
Did you know? After over a decade of service to HUD, James E. Collins has retired.
He had joined HUD to fill his days after retiring from his first career in the United States Marine Corps. Known for his red suspenders, motorcycle and military email signature, he was a staunch guardian of HUD regulations in PPSD.
We hear Jim will be riding his bike into the sunset in the hills of Colorado. Semper Fi !

| APPS Tip - Signature Package protocol | |
Did you know? HUD now accepts a signed PDF of the e-2530 signature package in lieu of an original, but there are several procedures you must follow in connection to this change.
#1. After hitting "send to HUD" with your e-2530 submission, print the 2530 Submission Package and obtain signatures, just as you did before.
#2. Scan the signed package into a pdf, saving the document with the APPS ID# in the file name.
#3 Then, the Coordinator should log back into APPS and go the function "Upload Signed 2530 Submission Package" to upload the file.
#4 If your e-2530 was for an Organization Change, there is one more step. Identify the HUD Headquarters Contact (found in the margin at the APPS Home page) and send an email letting HUD know that you have uploaded the pdf. (This last step is not required for Property Submissions.)
NOTE: This change does not apply to folks who are still submitting a paper HUD 2530 form. HUD will not be able to process those without receipt of the original signed document

This full day class walks thru all you need to know to submit for 2530 approval in APPS, includes our special presentation on monitoring and resolving HUD Flags and a peek inside HUD 2530 approval processing.

2530 & APPS for Non-Profits
We are trying out a new APPS training format - a 1/2 day Webinar designed specifically for non-profits. Class will cover non-profit reporting needs, board member concerns related to social security numbers and transitioning from paper to e-2530 approval of board changes.

You asked and we listened. Experienced APPS Users and Coordinators can now take a 2 hour Webinar Class designed to provide insight and assistance with the upper level functions in APPS, including most recent APPS changes and HUD guidance.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT:
Federal ISS Training - an EIV & TRACS Requirement
This is an annual requirement for EIV Users, Coordinators and those employees and consultants who view and handle the EIV print outs for your property. You can take this training on-line from HUD, but many find it cumbersome and confusing to navigate, preferring instead, to participate in a group training that provides the same Certificate.

HUD 2530
Does this mean me? |
HUD will verify you have a current and accurate HUD 2530 on file at Contract Renewal and even hold up your Rent Increase. Any time principals of the owner or management agent change (and that means new board members on the non-profit boards too) an updated 2530 filing is required. Don't get caught out of compliance! |
