Get Ready for Tax Season 

  

We are in the heart of "busy season" for  accounting staff and "forget trying to reach the HUD help desk" season for everyone else. 
 
Accountants, who have not logged in to the HUD Secure System since last Spring, swamp the Help Desk with calls for re-activation of ID's and password resets.  In this issue, we offer tips to get around these recurring problems.

 HUD System Tip - Re-activating ID's
 
Did you know?  You do not always need to call the HUD Help Desk to have your User or Coordinator ID re-activated.
 
Users may simply contact their Coordinators, who can re-activate their ID in User Maintenance thru the function Maintain User Information.
 
Coordinators can also re-activate other Coordinators who are connected to at least one common Tax ID # (or Property) by going to the same Maintain User Information function.

HUD System Tip - Password Resets

Did you know?  HUD has an electronic Password Reset option available for those who have forgotten their passwords.

 

As long as your ID is Active (see tip above), you can simply complete the Password Reset screen at the log-in page. A new password will be emailed to you, in less than a minute.

 

One caveat - If you attempted to log in 3 times and failed, you will need to wait overnight before you can use the electronic Password Reset option.

HUD System Tip - FASSUB problems

 

Did you know?  FASSUB is a Tax ID # based system not an FHA # based system.

 

When submitting the Annual Financial Statements on-line in FASSUB, remember to assure you are submitting under the correct Tax ID #.  Even if you see the correct Property Name and FHA #, do not proceed with an AFS submission unless the Tax ID # is correct.

 

Submitting under the wrong Tax ID # can cause your owners to be Flagged in APPS for Failure to File Financial Statements.

Spring Training - EIV, APPS and more

 

Federal ISS Training - an EIV & TRACS Requirement

This is an annual requirement for EIV Users, Coordinators and those employees and consultants who view and handle the EIV print outs for your property.  You can take this training on-line from HUD, but many find it cumbersome and confusing to navigate, preferring instead, to participate in a group training that provides the same Certificate.

APPS Baseline problems resolved!
Our hats off to HUD for moving up the release of the APPS baseline repair!  Three weeks ahead of schedule, the Baseline functions are now fully re-established.
 
System releases are on a scheduled timeline.  Moving a release up in the cue requires cooperation from various departments.  Thank you to all for your effort. It is much appreciated.

HUD 2530  -

Does that mean me?

 

 
HUD will verify you have a current and accurate HUD 2530 on file at Contract Renewal and even hold up your Rent Increase.
 
Any time principals of the owner or management agent change (and that means new board members on the non-profit boards too) an updated  2530 filing is required.
