Frequently Asked - Should I call HUD? |
People call HUD about their approvals when they should be exercising patience. They sit on their hands, when they should be dialing the phone. Knowing when to call and when to wait is a common dilemma. Based on what we see and hear in the industry, we offer here some guidance:
CALL HUD:
- If a Flag appears on your Flag Report in error
- If you don't know the exact release date of your REAC Inspection to use to calculate your appeal deadline
- If your 2530 submission status in APPS reads: Return to Applicant
- If you submitted an e-2530 in APPS 3 weeks ago, sent in the original signature package promptly and the APPS status still remains unchanged
DON'T CALL HUD:
- To get a copy of your REAC Inspection Report (your Coordinator should pull that from PASS)
- If you forgot your password log-in (just follow the "forgot password" links at the log-in screen)
- If you have not yet sent in the Signed Submission Package that accompanies an APPS submission (they will not process a 2530 without signatures)
- To ask them to "rush" your HUD 2530 approval (HUD needs time to complete a thorough evaluation on your suitability to participate)
Murphy Consulting is committed to helping you stay informed of HUD changes and providing you with resources to help you succeed. |

REAC Tip - Database Adjustments |
Did you know?
You can get a database adjustment prior to your REAC inspection and save yourself the scramble to get an appeal in to HUD after a failed inspection.
This applies to any HUD property that qualifies for a database adjustment, but HUD has asked us to especially get the word out to properties under OHP - nursing homes and assisted living facilities, who fail inspections due to differences between REAC requirements and local code.
See our Helpful Links section for the database appeal guidelines.
