What's New - HUD Log Out Changes

Controversy abounds regarding whether it is better to use HUD's "Log Out" function or "hit the red X on your internet browser" to close out your HUD Secure System session.  Users across the country were advised that "hitting the red X on your internet browser is the quickest and safest way to exit the system" - it is even one of the annual security exam questions in EIV.

We called HUD about this process last year and were advised that hitting the red X provides a quicker and cleaner session close - allowing their 7 servers to communicate with each other better.

Turns out, this does not function the same on every computer and numerous Users across the country are getting this error message when they attempt to log in:  You have been logged off due to multiple log ins with your user ID

If you are one of the folks receiving this error message, do NOT use the red X to exit the system in the future, but rather use HUD's Log-Out link instead.

Murphy Consulting is committed to helping you stay informed on HUD news and providing you with resources to help you succeed.

APPS Tip of the Month - Improvements

Did you know?

Changes in APPS last month added security features (such as encrypting applicant TIN's) and modifying screens HUD staff use for processing electronic 2530's internally. This makes sensitive data even safer for Industry Users and assists HUD staff with processing 2530 submissions.

Murphy Consulting provides training and assistance on troubleshooting HUD Secure System Access, APPS & 2530 and resolving HUD Flags.  Contact us today at 410-821-6953.

REAC Tip of the Month - Relief on some common deficiencies!
Did you know?

REAC has clarified deficiencies regarding Call-for-Aide pull chords. This is not new news (as HUD released these clarifications to inspectors last Fall), but you should be seeing changes in your REAC inspection deficiencies on these items in 2011.

If not, see our Helpful Links below for links to the new guidance, so you can be prepared to appeal, if necessary. Better yet, have this guidance handy during an inspection, to share with the Inspector, if he or she should call out an incorrect deficiency.

Contact Denise Murphy to learn more about how we can help you resolve HUD Flags or for a referral to a qualified REAC pre-Inspection or appeal assistance firm.
