forWhat's New & What's Not |
Many of HUD's changes in the September Secure Systems upgrade related to clarification of existing policies, not policy changes. Unfortunately, screen changes spooked many folks.
The most unsettling was the new warning at initial log-in: "Your user ID will be automatically deactivated if you don't log in before _______"
This announcement was inserted on the Legal Warning page to help you avoid having your WASS ID expire for failure to routinely log in.
HUD added this Special Notice: "HUD policy continues to require that user accounts be deactivated after 90 days from the last login. In order to help prevent your User ID from being automatically deactivated, the new User ID expiration message lets you know exactly when this would occur."
It is your responsibility to assure your ID does not expire. Log in routinely to save yourself the hassle of an expired ID.

Tip of the Month - Re-activating ID's |
Did you know?
You do not have to call the HUD Help Desk to re-activate terminated ID's. Your Coordinator can re-activate your User ID for you.
Your Coordinator simply logs-in, pulls you up in User Maintenance and selects "Maintain User Information" in the drop-down menu to change your terminated status to active. The change typically takes effect immediately and you can log in with your last password.

Tip of the Month - EIV Security |
Did you know?
HUD is emphasizing EIV Security. Reminders to Contract Administrators at a recent training included:
- Files containing EIV print-outs must be stored in a locked location
- Those handling EIV data must complete annual EIV security training (in addition to the annual security testing)
- Access to EIV data must be restricted to "Authorized personnel who need the information to perform their official duties"
Stay in compliance and avoid an EIV Security related MOR Finding.
