What's New |
There's a new team in town and a new play book. This was never more evident than last week. News, announcements, goals and policies were the talk at both the TRACS Industry meeting and the NLHA conference.
Carol Galante spoke about ensuring HUD programs work more seemlessly with LIHTC's and making sure Rental Housing has a robust platform on HUD's agenda. She is committed to having programs and policies formed by the experiences of those working in the field everyday.
Gail Williamson shared the new and exciting changes in store for EIV. Improvements designed to streamline processes and relieve burdens for Users and Coordinators. See our EIV Alerts below for details.
Lanier Hylton's goal is to stop having paper transactions. HUD is changing the whole way they do business, he said. Look for improvements in communication, the way applications interface, and new system security standards being rolled out in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The busy Secretary, Shaun Donovan, stopped in to share his vision for true public/private partnerships, collaboration between government agencies and transparency at all levels.

REAC Tip of the week - Sharp Edge Hazards |
Did you know?
Sharp edge hazards are real concerns. While the point deduction during a REAC Inspection may be minimal (typically less than one point), we all know, every point counts.
For the safety of all, educate your residents, as the majority of these deficiencies are found inside units. A combination of your diligence and resident cooperation will keep the community safer for all.
Murphy Consulting knows quality REAC pre-inspectors who can walk your property with you in advance of an inspection, to assure you have addressed critical point problem areas. If you have never hired a pre-inspector, you are missing out on valuable insight.

S.A.V.E. Registration Still Open |
Did you know?
Even if your property already has access to the SAVE system, you still need to designate one person to have access under DHS's new streamlined database.
For your convenience, HUD has negotiated a mass migration upload, but you must register for this. HUD tells us only a small percent of properties have taken advantage of this opportunity. What are you waiting for?
The deadline has been extended, but will not be available much longer. If you have not already registered, register today by sending an e-mail to saveaccess@hud.gov with the following information: o Property Name o Property Address o City, State, zip code o Last name, First name o Phone number o Fax number o e-mail address
Only one person per property should register.
HUD will compile the information received and forward it to the Department of Homeland Security for uploading into the SAVE system. After the uploading is completed, each person that has been uploaded into the SAVE system will receive an email with their user ID and temporary password to access the SAVE system. |
