Illinois residents buy approximately 2 million tires a year!

As outside summer activities begin and mosquitoes join the parties, we start thinking about vector abatement. Used tires are one of the most popular breeding grounds for mosquitoes because they retain water.  Considering traditional used residential tire collections are no longer being funded, the following is an update of your options for used tire recycling.    Read more...

YET ANOTHER MOMENT IN HISTORY!
paint can 5

The above paint can joins the 1947 Gay-Lux can from Galesburg and the 1949 ACE spray can from Chicago in the galleria of paints at the TCRCF.  This can, circa 1935, from the Galesburg Churchill Manufacturing, contains "color to enhance floor" stain.

"Western Illinois has a huge backlog of "stuff" collected by generations of people living on the same farm.
If residents would only bring in their old coins and silver certificates they have stored to recycle, we would have no funding issues for years," remarked Solid Waste Coordinator Chad Braatz, with a gleam in his eye.
