Wisconsin World War II Vets Honored
Just before dawn on May 19, a chartered plane with more than 90 World War II veterans departed for Washington D.C. This VIP group was enroute to a special tour of the war memorials and D.C. monuments. Returning 15 hours later, heroes were greeted by shouts, cheers, music and flags. For many this was the first chance to tour Arlington Cemetary and other D.C. memorials. The Badger Honor Flight, part of a nationwide nonprofit organization, provides this life-changing memory at no cost to the veteran. DCRA has hosted several honor flights and additional flights are being planned. For more information visit: www.badgerhonorflight.org |

NextGen...Not Just For Star Trek Anymore
NextGen is an umbrella term for the ongoing transformation of the National Airspace System (NAS). This comprehensive overhaul of our National Airspace System will make air travel more convenient and dependable, while ensuring your flight is as safe, secure and hassle-free as possible. At its most basic level, NextGen represents an evolution from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management. This evolution is vital to meeting future demands, and to avoiding gridlock in the sky and at our nation's airports. It will allow more aircraft to safely fly closer together on more direct routes, reducing delays and providing benefits for the environment through reductions in carbon emissions, fuel consumption and noise. |

DOT Rules Affect Airfare Reservations & Fares
Airlines must now include all mandatory taxes and fees in published airfares. Previously, airlines routinely promoted ticket prices at a certain cost and listed the taxes and fees separately.
These rules do not apply to the fees airlines might charge for checking luggage or other seat or in-air services. Carriers will now disclose baggage fees, and online fare quotes will show if there will be additional fees. Baggage fee information also will also be included on all e-ticket confirmations. For most trips, the same baggage allowances and fees shall apply throughout a passenger's journey. |
