Badger Honor Flight Departs Madison WW II Veterans Receive Heros Welcome Home!
Just before dawn on April 2, a chartered plane with over 100 World War II veterans departed for Washington D.C. This VIP group was enroute to a special tour of the war memorials and D.C. monuments. Returning 15 hours later, heroes were greeted by shouts, cheers, music and flags. For many this was the first chance to tour Arlington Cemetary and other D.C. memorials. The Badger Honor Flight, part of a nationwide nonprofit organization, provides this life-changing memory at no cost to the veteran. DCRA has hosted several honor flights and additional flights are being planned. For more information visit: www.badgerhonorflight.org |

The MSN Reuben
Regarded as a staple in the comfort food realm, the origin of this superb sandwich can't be pinpointed, however Madison travelers agree that there is something undescribable about this magical grilled sandwich at Usinger's Wurst German Bar. A simple combination of rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing coalesce to create a tastebud extraveganza. Paired with a pickle spear, waffle fries and your favorite brew, this sandwich makes the perfect snack, lunch, or dinner. The Wurst German Bar features sandwiches made from Usinger meat products, such as bratwursts and cold meats, as well as beverages and German beers to wash them down.

Dane County Regional Airport Continues to Grow GREEN! Eco-friendly Solution Wins National Design Award
Due to extensive growth in operations, the Dane County Regional Airport needed a solution for managing deicing fluids on the tarmac to prevent runoff into the nearby watershed. Airport Engineering and consultants from Mead & Hunt developed an environmentally sustainable solution that collects, samples, tests, stores, treats and discharges stormwater on-site. To ensure safety, liquids are analyized on-site to determine if they contain deicing fluids and are released into the creek only if clean. Unclean water is sent directly to the treatment plant - which means less water goes to waistwater treatment plants, lowering costs and protecting important nearby lakes and streams. DCRA engineers and design experts recently received an National Engineering Award of Excellence by The American Council of Engineering Companies for this eco-friendly design.
